The Racor 1000 tubine filter w/30 micron filter has a 3.16 gpm flow rate filtering diesel fuel .
Mark no insult inteneded on my remark , my German ancester ( Johann Winchenbach ) moved here in 1754 then they changed the last name to something easier to pronouce "Wincapaw"...????..yep.. :?
Separ started out by making Knockoffs of Racors. On their newer series the filter element is very small and clogs very fast, they claim you can backflush it but they only recommend that on the 30 micron element not the finer ones. Also the housing on their filter elements were zinc plated which...
Don't forget that you'll need to shim the pto to set the backlash so buy extra pto gaskets.
I just picked up a winch for my 5 ton...Damn that thing is big
Thanks David
Hey guys can I take off the frt driveshaft for now until I have time to dig into this project ,she not on the road and only being moved around the property
Thanks guys
I figured it had something to do with the sprag. I do hear the hiss when I shift from reverse to first but no thump. I will start by checking the the valves on top of the tranny and will definitly flush the transfer. How come only in reverse?
Again thanks for the input.
P.S...
No it doesn't do it when I'm shifting from first to reverse, it happens after I've bee backing up for about 30',both times I've been on a down angle and turning slowly while backing
OK
I haven't done much with my 5 ton since I bought it other then starting to buy "must have " parts ( ie windshields, tires,WINCH!)
anyway I do move it around the property and twice now when going from forward to reverse and backing up I have gotten a Butt clutching "BANG" from...

Hey any of you guys that need manuals go see Brian in the classifieds, I just bought 3, 5 ton manuals from him delivered for less then what Portrayal wants for just one of them. Mine are low/mid 70's dated w/Change 1,2 & 3., in excellent condition ( one was NOS).

Yes the M-37 is tank is vented but just barely, there's a 1/8" ( OD ) vent tube that runs from the tank to the carb airhorn with about 20 bends along the route
Is this the cap you have? http://news.webshots.com/photo/1030012813033732824RymwUMaYhS?

90° to where it seats then the cap vent is closed, turn it another90° to where the tab is...
I have the small primary fuel filter ( located in the frt fender well on my M-54A1) which I think is a left over from the gasser, it takes a NAPA 3080 (wix #33080)., The secondary fuel filter on the engine is a NAPA 3090 (wix #33090) or Purolator P-91. I believe the main oil filter is a NAPA...
On the older (Marine) Detroit Diesels it was safe to burn 25 (diesel) to 1 gal oil. Don't know if your compensator is hooked up or not but that is a safe ratio to start as you don't want to gum up the rings by running to rich. Also remember oil has higher BTU then diesel
Very nice
I've wanted one of those since I saw Dave petrillos, ( wee bee webbing), to bad that they are to new to get into the U.S.,and ( properly) titled.

Ditto with N1265
Also to add to it
Pop the blister and see if its between the new paint and the old or between the old paint and the bare metal, if its the later then its out of your control unless you want to sandblast the whole truck down to bare metal. Also I like to wipe down suspect areas...
Being 26 years in the marine fuel cleaning business I like the Racor spinon series
