I read the list of your trucks out loud and my wife commented from the background "This guy cannot possibly be married!". Be it as it may - pictures of the rest of the herd would be nice!
The fuel pump attachment is adjustable - you can lower the pump and it will pick up from a lower level, having more useable fuel. Under normal, civy conditions, without fuelling up from cruddy jerrycans etc., that is probably perfectly fine, especially when you make sure that the bottom of the...
Actually.....when you think of suddenly needing the winch after it has been packed with snow and ice for days, it makes sense to keep it covered. Not for warmth, but to keep the frozen stuff away from things that should turn and unwind smoothly.
Most (not all) people in the hobby buy military trucks because you get as much truck as you can handle for a fraction of the money any civilian comparable would cost. While people like their trucks, many will eventually move on to the next more modern model that can be had cheaply, rather than...
Here is the web site with all the info: http://www.rockwelloffroad.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=76
I replaced them not too long ago (August) but I had the luxury of comparing them with a pair of NewStar silver zipper boots I have had unopened for about 8 years (they were...
Air leak under the dash is the rubber hose that goes to the air pressure gauge. Common defect. Have a place make you a new hose, a tad longer than the original and you are golden. Also check the air valve in the passenger side foot well; sometimes that gets kicked open.
I actually thought I had posted this in this thread, but....
I used the boots from www.rockwelloffroad.com
I am not affiliated but their heavy-duty boots are made a tad larger than the originals, they go on super easy (I can attest to that) and the material appears sturdy. Colour choices, too...
I read this as meaning the water jacket coolant hoses, because I cannot, for the life of me, imagine any other "hoses" carrying coolant on the outside of that engine. Maybe heater hoses, if the heater has been relocated into the cab on the passenger side, as some have done.
Unless there is classic, complete head gasket failure (oil pouring out, compression leak, milk coffee coolant) I would recommend to do a cold re-torque of the head nuts first, then to run it and re-evaluate. Torque values have changed over the years, no guarantee it was torqued correctly in the...
So the master cylinder is still full, so is the rad? Any leaks when running?
On an aside, I really recommend the master cylinder external reservoir mod. It is inexpensive but adds tremendous peace of mind when you can monitor the brake fluid level from the cab.
Any leaks when the truck is idling? Did you recently top off the radiator? Can you go for a drive, warm it up well and then go look, with the engine idling? After you shut it down and let it cool off some, is there residual pressure in the coolant system (does it go "pfft" when you open the cap...
Like many other things, becoming at least a decent offroad driver takes experience. Experience comes through failing, figuring out why it did not work and doing better next time. This driver is working on his experience angle :)
The ether start uses the same switch the flame heater used. In order to test, find the coolant temperature sensor for the ether start. It usually sits on the flange for the upper coolant hose and has a connector with two contacts. Pull the connector, short the contacts with a paper clip...
I think it is simply put in place of the bleeder screw of the secondary filter housing. I'd venture out and say it is probably 1/8 NPT, so a gauge would screw straight in. Sorry, don't have my truck on hand to verify.
