What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Corporate does and it is under my care at work. i dare not haul CUCV's on it. Only chassis wrecked bodies and scrap. And a good friend of mine has several from a single car to a 4 car. So I have good access to one. Why do you need something?

    Uneven brake pad wear

Yea I agree. They just keep stopping my truck everywhere. I just want to keep going. But that's the way it goes. I think after 40 some years of use they sure have proved to be an effective way to stop vehicles. Millions of vehicles can't be wrong. Happy Holidays.

    Uneven brake pad wear

And if you had Autozone brakes you could have taken them back and had a free replacement pair handed to you. I have ceramic brakes on my M1009's they seem to hold up well. And I bought them and the calipers at none other then Autozone. Just saying. The truck has stopped for the last 100K so no...

    M1009 towing capacity question

dougco1 I hope that guy has that trip all complete. He posted that question in August. WOW. I would hate to think he is still trying to transverse Pennsylvania. I could have drove my Kubota across the state by now. Peace man. Happy Holidays. Wait for it.What is the hitch rating of this hook=up?

    Uneven brake pad wear

I don't know if it is an M1009 or an M1008/M1028/M1010/M1031. But the all have slides that need to be kept lubed and cleaned. If they cannot return to nuetral and slide away. They just keep getting clamped to the disc. In other words the piston in the caliper pushes and that squeezes the caliper...

    Door Panel Paint Source?

I was upstairs in the barn looking for parts for an M1009 as a member Dukenukem had stopped by and I came across 2 new GM in box CUCV door panels. I also found a new in box GM dash pad. It is a gray one but still new in box. I knew I had them but had forgotten where they were. I still have a...

    Easter find M1008 2015

Easter find has a completely reassembled front axle Dana 60 that has all new brakes, calipers, tie rod ends and drag link. Ready to go back in as soon as the paint drys. Maybe Monday. Now onto the rear 14 bolt axle. The old drums, studs removed. The best tool to remove and install the studs. I...

All glow plugs failing @ same time?!?!

I am not so sure that is 100% accurate. I had Ford's with 7.3 diesels in them and the glow plugs expanded also. The glow plugs were on the top side not as big a deal. I also had older 6.2 / 6.5 cutaway GM cab chassis that had glow plugs swell. They were a real joy as the engine was in side and...

All glow plugs failing @ same time?!?!

Buy a new circuit card for the glow plugs and rewire it and live happily ever after. Then it is a no blame wait till the light goes out and start it. Good Luck. Happy Holidays.

All glow plugs failing @ same time?!?!

IMHO. Just change the glow plugs and move on. No need to redesign the glow plug system. Just think they latest over 30 years the way they were. Yes they do require maintenance on occasion. I have 6 running and driving CUCV';s and every CUCV I own has A C Delco 13 G glow plugs in it and all the...

Is $7000-$8000 too high for super clean M1009?

Ohio mud must be different then Pennsylvania. No problem cleaning CUCV tires out in our mud holes. We just gun-it and run through it. Come east in the spring and we can show you how it's done. Rausch Creek Spring should be a hoot. My Son is building a truck for it debut at Rausch Creek. You can...

    Easter find M1008 2015

Hello. I just was out in the garage and I wanted to look at the brake drum boxes to get the part number. They are from NAPA NOT the Autozone. They are made in China just like the Autozone. Best thing was the A C Delco's were made in China also. So hands down. Unless I want to get the original...

    M1009 front axle lock up

Just be sure that is the problem. And swapping the entire assembly is the wise thing to do. I was pointing out to make sure the problem is not something else. Did it run out of oil? Or is one of the calipers / U-joints locked up? I sold a 6.2 engine to a friend a few years back and he said his...

    Door Panel Paint Source?

That Bronze color is noted on the glove box/under hood build sheet that is attached. Also the branch of service the truck was built for is on the build sheet. I only ever had 1 that was a 3 color camouflage built for the Navy, several USMC, several Air Force and mostly Army. Did your vehicle...

    M1009 front axle lock up

The only shame I see is. The shame that it went bad. I am sure you are not looking for something to do. I have had 1/2 ton 4 X 4 Chevy trucks all my life and everyone had one of the cooperate 10 bolts in it. I never had any problems with them. Same as the millions of others that were built and...

    Door Panel Paint Source?

This is the original 32 year old door panel from the Mule M1009 I removed it from the original door. This is the same door panel after I soaked it in Armor All. I do repaint/redye/recolor door panels. But I have been getting better results on hard use vehicles by just soaking them down for about...
