Just stand it with the shaft up and pour oil in the holes and spin it and pour in some more. Don’t dump it out before you install. Watch oil pressure gauge when you fire up.

The army has been using sand color spray paint to paint rectangles on green trucks and then stenciling the unit markings on as they see fit. That painted over decal appears to be the DTID sticker which is useless, scrape it off.
Next time it “loses electric” leave the switch on and open the battery box and start taking measurements. Smoke came from an intermittent connection that is in there not elsewhere. Look for crusty dust between the cable strands and cable terminals.
The tab is no doubt still stuck in the oil pump shaft. You can pull the oil pump out easy, just make sure the tooth engagement is the same when you put it back in. Mark the tooth to oil pump housing with a paint pen and make sure that is lined back up the same when you stab the oil pump, or...
