Winch trucks with a hard top do go for 4500 or so. However, no title is a huge issue. Here in GA anything older than 1986 sells with a BOS only. Transferring to another state if it was registered here is simple. I would avoid this one in FL just too big a hassle, and I also have heard Broadway...
Yes, for whatever reason the DRW hubs were the only part of the conversion they never installed. It still needs the DRW hubs installed in the front:roll:
Just pull the column from the box, after the cab is off put it back. Make sure you do not lose the shims. If no bed is there, you could pull the steering wheel and lift the cab up and to the rear.
Finally got the dually from Warner Robbins painted. It was a total basket case with alot of missing parts. Took a power pack from a M1008, seats from an ambulance, civy center console and door panels. The good thing was no rust on the truck at all. Still have a couple things to install and...
Swapped the parts today. The tire goes on the drivers side unlike the dumps where it is on the passenger side. Had to modify two brackets quite extensively, but it's done.
The problem will be money. You will have WAY more in the CUCV than it will ever be worth. As far as places that work on them SECO in Augusta, or CSI in Tallapoosa, GA. CSI will be cheaper but not by much. You could probably build a garage and do it yourself cheaper.
The problem isn't what they cost but if you can find one. I found one a few years ago then the 6 I found this summer in CA. They are the only ones i've found.
What is in the "kit" will probably depend on the year of the truck and what your "kit" comes with depending on when it was made. I can only speak of the deuce kits but would think the 5 tons are very similar. In the 50's they checked/modified everything you could think of. The last ones only had...
Well haven't made alot of posts on this recently. The move to NOLA killed my working on MV time. Anyway, found the super rare spare tire carrier/tool box over a year ago. I just could not make myself pay almost as much for the rack as I paid for the truck. Today I did (yeah no pics). Everytime I...
If you have a perfect 2nd cab just change it. If you don't have a cherry picker, I'm sure 6 people could lift it on (maybe even 4). Just disconnect all wiring, remove fenders, hood, windshield ect. Anything that has weight. Pull column off (save spacers), also pull shifter handles. Then just...
If you just went to Autozone and picked up the cheapest brake fluid, you need to stop and completely drain the brake system and start over. The can will say DOT 5 on it. Like what was said they should not be mixed. The manuals are in the resources section at the top. Look for the 1965 they are...
Read the manuals in the resources section, add DOT 5 fluid, bleed according to the manual, check VERY good for leaks. That just gets you started. You need to do a very thorough inspection of the entire brake system before you drive it.
Pretty sure it would have been painted after its release. Does it have the gas engines or diesels? We found a four color Army marked one last year during our travels. They are pretty hard to find cheap.
