Mine has the electric wipers, I've never had any other deuce, so I can't compare them to anything. But they are nice. I can get the windows open probably about 1/2 way with them on, but my locks must be messed up because I can't lock them open even a few inches.
But, it rained some on the way...
Jakob,
westfolk and cranetruck are correct, first, when the accessory switch is on, you should at the very least hear the low air buzzer. Check the starter switch and connections behind it, although you only changed the clutch and shouldn't have messed with that stuff...I hope.
One thing, and...
very well put Carl,
The main advantage to diesel sets, in my opinion, is the storage of diesel is a lot less sensitive than gas. Higher flash point, so it's more stable. Plus there is no carb to gum up if you don't properly maintain it. I always have at least 1 drum of off road diesel around...
IIRC it should be at 28.2 volts to properly charge the batteries and such. There is a procedure in the TM maint. manual under the electrical troubleshooting section to troubleshoot and adjust if necessary the voltage regulator.
TM 9-2320-361-24-1 Work package (WP) 12 page 12 00 -19 starts the...
welcome aboard...this is the place for bigger and better. Watch yourself though, some of these guys will have you talked into a 5 ton quicker than you can say "deuce". :-D:-D
You might be surprised how much you can run with a military 5KW set. Remember that they are rated for a full 5KW continuous duty. You'll not find a civi model rated for that, unless you want to shell out some major coin to get one. Plus the motor starting capacity (or surge rating) on these...
bevanet, first welcome to the site,
no wet stacking does not affect only turbo diesels. It can actually affect your air cooled generator, but not as easily (since it's air cooled, it would get to a higher temperature easier, with a lighter load). Wet stacking occurs in any diesel when it does...
Joe, if you are unsure, drive an hour and a half south and come check mine out and we'll go for a drive and you can make a decision first hand.
I say go for it...they are a blast, and like gimpy said, I dare you to stop at one MV.
I don't understand how a bell housing gasket would stop a leaking tranny?? The bell housing gasket, my understanding of it anyway, would be to prevent water from entering the bell housing during deep water fording, correct? The bell housing gasket surely will not keep fluid inside of a tranny...
Carl_in_NH hit the nail on the head....read read read!!
If you have not yet, download and read the TM's, at the very least read the -10 TM. They are available free in the resources section to download.
Read up on the brakes, and about other peoples recovery efforts. If you are not...
SmokeyJoe, I'm happy to her you got her running better now. Great video, I couldn't hear what you were saying very good, but the set looks to run great. Sounds good. You did a great job on that ratty old engine you got from me...LOL :razz:
Carl_in_NH, if you can find an 003a cheap...
Way to go obc,
Those sets are fantastic!, you should have no problem running the things you mentioned during an outage. I'm glad you got it hooked up properly and with no major issues. When you get some time, we will need pictures though...LOL We love our pictures.
excellent "pre-flight" reminder checks. Even though I haven't heard of too many deuces having the problem, I have heard of diesel getting into the crankcases and such, so every time I take the deuce out, I always check the oil level before I start it.
Thanks for the reminder. It always pays...
