Travis, I agree with everything you said but this. I see PTO winches all the time for $1,000-$1,200 ( I just sold a complete setup for $1,000).
Maybe the 18K Warn is different but I've never seen an electric winch have a line pull that equaled it's rating. Have you ever noticed how much...
Myself, I'd go with the mutifuel. There are people that have gassers and love them though.
Yes, the gasser has a carb. I have no idea about the rebuild kit.
The sprag cases work fine when adjusted right. I still much rather have an air-shift though.
I guess you could ad a turbo to the...
I guess I was thinking more along the lines of a deuce (although I guess he did mention smaller vehicles ;)).
I still think it would be a bad idea on something as large as a deuce (a bob maybe). I'm just going by my experience on large trucks. If you make the frame too rigid on large trucks...
:ditto:
I've been seaching for something before and find threads that had nothing to do with what I was searching for. Before you know it, I'm on a whole different subject and don't even remember what my original search was about.
Thanks Clinto. I really didn't aim for you to go through that much trouble.
Even though you didn't find any relevant threads, I did learn something about searching by seeing your thought process. I'm sure what you and Srjeeper said will help me in future searches.
A local guy has got one for sale and I was wondering if I could get a read on what they were worth (if a multifuel would fit it would already be mine ;)).
I'm having trouble with a search. Sometimes search just doesn't agree with me :x. Maybe some of the "super searchers" (DH, Clinto?) can tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I was trying to look up 6.2 engine cans. I typed "6.2 engine can" in the search field and I get this on the page- " The...
When you say "8K to 11K" are you talking about the weight or the lift capacity? The reason I ask is because a 11K cap lift (air tire) is going to weigh in the neighborhood of 18K-20K.
If you're set on using the deuce the ideal setup would be a deuce with a rollback bed on it or a tilt pintle...
I move forklifts almost daily. Everthing from 5,000lb lifts to 100,000lb lift. How big of forklift are you looking to haul? Air tire or solid tire?
How are you planning on loading/unloading it? Most forklifts don't have alot of power to climb a steep loading ramp. They also have low ground...
I tend to think that boxing a frame on a off-road vehicle would be a bad idea. You need lots of flex off-road and IMO boxing a frame would make it too rigid.
A box design is always stronger than a "C" and dosen't want to twist near as much.
Yes, almost everything you read tells you not to...
As Eddy said, If you're not a US citizen they won't sell you a truck.
If you want to buy a deuce your best bet would be to buy one from some of the dealers that do exports.
I see three things that could have happened. 1) water got in there and froze. 2) You hit something and made the hole. 3) the winch was overloaded.
If it's one or two, you may can weld it up and be ok if the winch works otherwise.
If it's number three, You more than likely have other problems...
I always try and make it once a year. I missed the spring shoot so I guess it's time to make my yearly visit. A group of us always go up there. I'll have to check with everybody to see what day we are going.
The only reason I hate going is, I spend too much d*** money. Lots of expensive goodies.
I've found that some people will take a considerable amount of punishment and love every minute of it. The older I get, the less punishment I care to take. I find I like driving the deuce alot more if I drive it because I want to and not because I have to. There's no way I'd use a deuce as a...
I'm not sure about a 5-ton. I know a civilain PTO to fit a deuce trans is very rare. I suspect the 5-ton PTO could be as rare.
You probably could call Chelsea or a Chelsea dealer, give them the trans numbers, and they could tell you if they ever made a PTO for that trans and what the PN was. I...
The deuce trans PTO has a high, low, and reverse with the output going toward the front for the front winch. The accessory drive mounts on the back of the trans PTO and goes toward the back with one direction and one speed.
The t-case PTO is like the "power tower" you speak of. It has use...
I've looked at that cover on the PTO and wondered about that. Never accually seen it done though. I wonder if the gears would line up?
The problem I see with running a rear winch off of a trans PTO accessory drive is that you'd only have one speed in one direction. I think a t-case PTO would...
It depends on what seals you're talking about. You don't have to pull the shaft to replace the output shaft seal. You just have to unbolt the seal retainer and drive the seal out on the output.
Yes.
From my experience, it's much cheaper to get a key copied than it is to get one cut from the code. The only two people that can cut a key by code are our local locksmith and the GM dealer. The locksmith gets $20 to cut a key from code and the GM dealer gets $30 and requires proof of...
