Need crash course in M1078 LMTV

C A G I N G... CAGING bolt holders... :) I have known some Cajuns who could probably use a bolt holder though, as they really appeared to have a screw loose...:)

Need crash course in M1078 LMTV

There is a metallic oil line between the drivers side of the cylinder head and the back side of the governor. It is looped out like a diving board and it can oscillate, work-harden and break if the truck has a lot of vibration. Most people have been replacing it with a braided -4 hose with -4...

I like it, now lets see some video of that back ladder:)

    LMTV Air Conditioner

Good question. Yep, there should be no connection between the two. The AC controls it’s own condenser fans and the engine fan control should control itself like it always has. Now if someone got creative and tried to mix in the fording switch to also disable the condenser fans, they may...

You can also judge a little by looking at the seal. If it had been that loose when the yoke was installed, the seal would have been deformed/destroyed in just a few revolutions...

Yep, mine is 63:1 so even more critical...

Need help with Allison Pan Removal

You cannot judge pinion free-play until the yoke is torqued in place, as it pre-loads the input bearing pack... I think if you throw a yoke and a nut on there and snug it down a little you will find it tightens up considerably...

Need crash course in M1078 LMTV

Up in the tech manuals section under present conflict vehicles, you will find all the A0 manuals, and the operators manual(has a -10 at the end). I would start with the op manual. as mentioned they have 4 batteries that provide 12 and 24V. You need both 12/24 to run. These vehicles have a...

Cool! I got the impression from one photo that yours was the internal connector type, but nope, it is clearly the sealing tower... Glad you got it apart!

    "On the road again..."

Yep! Does that impact deliver full torque in both directions? The one cheapie AI that I have does not... For the LMTV I got and use a 63:1 torque multiplier(Think it was about $90). 450FT/LB = 7FT/LB on the multiplier hand crank, so no real issue to crank around the hand crank to break them...

Need help with Allison Pan Removal

There are 3 different types of trans harnesses used. Two of them are like the one shown in the top of this diagram, with a sealing tower that plugs up into the main housing and is held there with a clip. You disconnect the connector, remove the connector nut from it’s bracket, pull the locking...

    M1081 Dash Light Doesn't Work

There are actually 2 dimmers. One is part of the 3 lever switch(lower left lever), then it feeds the rotary dimmer. The rotary dimmer is probably bad. You can bypass it easy enough, just unplug it and put a jumper in the plug to test... Mine was dead, I haven't replaced it yet and have just...

    Fording Heights

The bell housing has a vent port on top, passenger side, so it shouldn’t be able to build pressure. I believe it is as you assume for the drain plug. It stays out to let you know if rear main, trans input or torque converter start leaking, and goes in for fording... lotsa vents: front...

    Power Distribution Panel repair

Yea, if you don’t have a wrecker with work lights, K12 is a pretty obvious candidate for a ignition switched 12V supply relay. Since it is also already switched up into the auxiliary panel it would also be pretty easy to add a switch and use one of the steering diodes on the ignition line to...

    Power Distribution Panel repair

These are the powr-block module components for the power panel used in the A0. These parts would allow you to rebuild/re-configure the A0 panel to suite more customization, such as a 12V ignition switched bus with fused outputs, right in the panel without having to add a separate external...

LMTV Backup Hand Hydraulic Pump Questions.

The cab and tire cylinders have safety check-valves built into them which will keep the load from falling if you should have a hose or fitting fail. There are restricted orifices in these circuits that keep the flow within the limits of the safety checks. The checks are basically a check ball...

    LMTV Cab Suspension Airbags Alternative

Well y0u pass thur has to accomidate whatever the If I recall my measurements correctly, the shocks in the stock system only allow about 1.75” of total travel, and deflating only lowers about 1” from the set ride height... It isn’t much travel, and your pass-thru should be able to accommodate...

    LMTV Cab Suspension Airbags Alternative

And a shock, yes you could as long as you can figure out the weight right and if the cab weight stays fairly constant. Not sure how shifting a 200# pax in and out of the center seat would effect it though...
