    valve replacement

Drain oil and coolant, remove manifolds, remove injectors, remove valve covers, remove rocker assemblies and push rods, remove heads (need special wrench), compress valve springs (special tool), remove keepers, remove valves. The naturally aspirated engine is a LD465.

Just the right front. All back together and running and moving great!

    LMTV won't self propel

Fortunately when I got my yet uninstalled high speed gears, I saved all the axle parts that I could from the two donor axles. So I have what I need to repair. Just funny that Uncle went through the trouble of siliconing the hub on with no guts inside. Fooled me.

    Transfer case swap

I vaguely remember in the 70's there were kits available to convert the 203 to part time. Who knows if you could find one now. For a long time on my first 880, I could not find a 203 for it, so I ran a 727 from a 2WD truck. It would do a pretty good burnout. When I finally installed a 203...

    LMTV won't self propel

So I'm in the debugging phase of the new Bragg M1081 Airdrop LMTV. All the usual cannibalization: PDP relays missing, batteries missing, air fittings gone. So I replace all that. Ignition on, press the red button, nothing. Jump K1 relay and we have a running truck. Put it in D to move out...

thinking about getting 419 see, need input!

Good versatile piece of equipment? Get a Case 580. That way you can actually move dirt and not turn wrenches. I think the SEE is cool as heck, but reading all everyone's repair nightmares, I am steering clear.

FMTV Refuses to charge air from front emergency gladhand

Does your truck have this malady? You connect an air supply to the front emergency glad hand, hoping to get brakes up but no air makes it to the tanks. In the case of my new 1081, the culprit was the one way valve right behind the middle of the front bumper. You can remove it without pulling...

    Can't find stamped VIN

How about slightly forward of the front spring perch? Number should begin with M if I remember correctly.

    What is this........???

Yes that is the selenium rectifier for the 100 amp system. Your truck probably had a radio shelter installed at one time. The antenna in your pic is a civi cb antenna. Member Storm 51 here is looking for bits and pieces of the M37 100 amp system, I see the cables are there. Does your engine...

Super useful information, thank you. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the OEM of this part and came up empty.

    Hood numbers question

Lusterless yellow is correct for USMC. No wonder the numbers did not make sense, I was not thinking Marine Corps.

M2 High Speed Tractor Goose Chase

Are you looking for a pristine unmolested example with usable tracks like the rest of us or will a derelict do? There is one in LaPryor TX.

What kind of truck is this?

That is what I would call a dream barn find. Ton and a half Chevys unrestored do not get any better than that. The dent in the hood will pop right out with swift boot kick from underneath. The vet knew the value of the truck from the war and thankfully kept it in a shed.

    Hood numbers question

The numbering system in place during 1960-68 would have been numeral-letter-numeral-numeral-numeral-numeral. I believe the first leading numeral should be a 3. The letter would not be an "I" or "O".

    Hood numbers question

Hmm, there would not be a "C" as either the leading character or the next to last, so those are likely zeros. What year is your Dodge? Can you post a picture? As you know the USA stands for United States Army and the number is the military registration number.
