The short answer is that you can replace it with a tube with (or without) a filter on it... That complex bit is really just a tub with a filter around it... My M37 with the Cummins 4BT has a modified pickup in the tank that is just a rigid tube (piece of brake line) with a generic sick filter...

Considering that the tent we use as a HQ during the event has the flaps for using these ducts, and I have heaters with no ducts (no A/C unit though...), bring them and I will take them off your hands. May not use them during the event, but I know that I can put them to good use at other times...
