I'd appreciate feedback on this new look. This is a rough cover for the "humpy" frame. One is in 1000D Cordura nylon (that soft slant back kits used to be made from) and one is a prototype in mil spec PVC vinyl. I'm still figuring out how to sew this to completion. I thought it would be...
Some people have asked what a frame that more closely resembles the military slant back with the humped rear would look like. In response, I'm working on a new frame that will be a totally new design for the frame and cover. I welcome feedback on this idea. It is a bit taller on the rear end...
Bringing up this old thread with some updated R&D. There was another thread but it was closed after the site was upgraded.
Here is a new frame design that uses stronger tubing and connectors. Clamps are screw in (repurposed electrical fittings) and bolted. If anyone knows an available...
Your plan to change all the fluids is a sound one. Note that the Lube Order includes checking the portal hubs and several other "odd" places too, such as the differentials. A drain and fill of the differentials is fine, IMO, but you really should make the time to open the geared hubs and inspect...
+1 feeds for radio tray. At least one of those wires is HOT 24VDC all the time. Be careful. Best to disconnect and remove them all and blank off the hole, unless you have another use for it intended.

Welcome Abram80. There are many HMMWV owners in NOVA. There is also a Nova HMMWV owners group on Facebook, if you are on that platform. There is, or was, a repair shop in Richmond that took in HMMWVs as well, if you are not up to all the wrenching.
Welcome again and please keep us posted on...
I second the nomination of Blue Ox Tops. William Welch does excellent work. He cuts, sews and fits every top by hand. I have seen pictures and descriptions of other sources for 4-man tops and they always have some feature wrong, whether bad seams, too-short Velcro straps, ill-fitted and poorly...
Have seen several people use this "source" for specific components. If you've the time and logistical capability, it makes great sense and yield many extras.

Congrats on your progress!
As to paint, the RAPCO 383 series paints are an excellent match, made for HMMWVs. They will be more vibrant (though still tactical flat finish of course) because they are new, so you may want to plan on total respray.

Most of the time folks attribute it to the start box going bad. There are plans on this site to rebuild the smart box to a 'dumb' box, with a push button to send power to the (new) glow plugs. Many like this. It's not too hard to DIY if you've some soldering experience, or can find a friend to...
I'll chip in with this link to the Hummer Knowledge Base which has some part numbers and cross references as well: http://www.hummerknowledgebase.com/HMMWV.html

I think my DB2 needs a refresh too. I called a local place and they said just buy a rebuilt one online. It’s not worth their effort to rebuild mine.
There’s a place in Pensacola on eBay that has them for $600 or so. They have very good feedback ratings. I’ll probably order from them.
I’m going...
