    A, B, C Pillar NSNs for Hardtop

I would recommend you download some of the manuals https://www.imfmotorpool.com/HMMWV_M998_Manuals.html it's what I use all the time to find part numbers and almost everything else you need to know. Recommend you start with TM 9-2320-280-24P-1 and TM 9-2320-280-24P-2 and any that start with TM...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

I dug into the controller I bought on epay for $35 from Beltfed. It was advertised as "inop" and I had planned on needing to fix or modify it for my application so it was the right price for me. In working condition they seem to go for a lot. If you are in need of one of these I would...

Electric turret controller cable part number help

Thanks, I'm not using it for a turret but I am using the joystick for rear steering and now that I have looked at it more I'm going to require more than the 3 wires in the cable. I'll probably end up changing out the connector for 5 or more wires. If they are hard to find it should go to...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

Today I started working on the rear steering. As some of you might have seen there is someone making a rear steering cylinder with auto mechanical centering. I looked at that system closely before deciding I don't like the way it works. Basically it uses spring pressure and a bleed off hole...

Electric turret controller cable part number help

Hi, I am trying to find the cable in the picture that attaches to the turret controller. The part number would be helpful or if you know of where I might find one that would be very helpful also. Thanks

    M998 Rim Offset Bolt Pattern

In the link I posted above there is a PDF file attached. In the PDF file there is a list of Common Rim Sizes available in 8x6.5" bolt pattern. There is also a list of Brands and Model of wheel that match the rim sizes. In the lists it gives the offset in mm and the back spacing in inches...

    M998 Rim Offset Bolt Pattern

Here's a post I did a few years ago but all the info is still good. The attached pdf gives a bunch of measurements and sizes. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/my-new-1992-m998-avenger.184818/post-2210080

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

Unrelated update on this Blizzardous evening here in the Northeast. This is a side project trailer I have been working on (on and off) for a couple years as time allows. I bought this fifth wheel camper trailer frame with hitch and everything with ambitions of making a car hauler trailer out...

HOW TO ADD 12v CIGAR LIGHTER TO HMMWV

Yes except it wouldn't be -12vdc it would be 0vdc or ground. In my picture above the battery on the left is what others are referring to the rear battery.

HOW TO ADD 12v CIGAR LIGHTER TO HMMWV

Does this apply only if it is hooked up to the batteries? Mine is grounded, would I just unground mine and tap off of it? I assume it would only work if it is connected to the battery.

HOW TO ADD 12v CIGAR LIGHTER TO HMMWV

The dual voltage alternator is for dual voltage charging not just a 12v tap to run stuff. If you want a simple 12v low current outlet then tap one of the batteries. Pull the 12vdc from between the batteries and then the chassis ground will work for you like any other ground. See picture below.

What's the differences in control arms?

I know there are 2 different sets of control arms, early and later style. Help me understand if I have this right. Lower control arms LF and RR are the same RF and LR are the same Is the only difference in the early vs late the ball joint hole size? Am I correct to understand that you can...

Humvee in Alaska....2 to 4 man...and exploring the mountains and glacier trails.....

How's the heat in that? Do you get extreme low temps? Have you considered a cab and engine heater, I think they are called a multi fuel heater?

Thinking about upgrading my HMMWV half-shafts

And that is why I started out with it may just be terminology differences. That said, let's forget about terminology and just use numbers and examples. Does the 2.56 apply more torque to the half shaft or does the 3.08? I'm just trying to understand your previous statement. "I have no...

Thinking about upgrading my HMMWV half-shafts

I'm not sure if I understand what you are saying. Maybe it's a difference of terminology. I assume this is in reference to the mention of 3.08 geared differentials? The 3.08 is a lower gear ratio than the 2.56 gears. Then you say the higher gear ratio puts more torque on the half shafts and...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

In the process of rewiring the controller I had to reuse some of the terminal pins in the connectors on the switches. I thought I would show how to do that. Some pins are harder to do this with but there are times when you have to reuse what you have. The 5 wires circled in red needed to be...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

I worked on the winch control and wiring today. In a previous post I mentioned I wanted to use a Heavy Duty Winch Controller from a larger truck that most likely had a variable speed winch. The variable speed part would not apply to my winch as they just don't support it. I did find a...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

I've made lines before and I think with the extra lines I have now I should have enough fittings to do what I need to. When I get to the rear steering that might change. Thanks I do not make a living at this, just a hobby. That said, I have a few tools and toys and lots of experience with...
