    MEP 802A Fix-up Thread

I ended up doing exactly what you guys said but without reading you're posts. :) I used a set of huge channel locks to twist it off. Used a bunch of oil on the gasket. New thermostat installed. Radiator dropped off to be cleaned, rodded, & patched. Hopefully will have back Monday. Put the...

    MEP 802A Fix-up Thread

Figured I'd share some pictures of the work so far. New fuel return lines & brass tank bulkhead fittings installed. Removed radiator. You can see where the piece of metal had fun in the shroud. Filled the radiator with water & laid it out to confirm that it does leak. Will put a new thermostat...

    MEP-8xx wet stack info

I won't worry as much then as I can easily hook up the house & run it hard for a few hours to clean it up. My main concern is the 0% load for a lot of time overnight.

Great minds think alike. My plan if nothing else was a 1,500W heater outside on the trailer.

A setup like that isn't cost effective for my use. I did wire in a small inverter charger with my electrical... Used an RV panel. I have 12 volt lights hooked up along with some small radio chargers to the 12 volt side for when the generator isn't needed in the winter. Of course I'd love a nice...

    MEP-8xx wet stack info

Was thinking of getting an electric cook top & toaster oven for out there, but they won't be on all night. I'd need something throughout the night to keep a decent load on the generator. I tow it out there & can run it on the house for a few hours every month or so to really clean it up good...

    MEP 802A Fix-up Thread

Wanted to share an update. Used it at my off grid place last weekend. 8 hour round trip towing. Ran into some issues out there. No Fuel shutoff issue popped up again at 0330.... had to take the panel off & unplug the float switch. The new gaskets & well nut I put on the top of the tank started...

    MEP-8xx wet stack info

Any tips besides load to help with wet stacking? On trucks, generally a higher RPM helps but on a generator, that really isn't an issue. Asking because I used mine at my off-grid place & during the night, the A/C units don't run hard as the air temperature isn't as high & almost no load is on...

I'm also kicking myself in the butt.... 2 weeks ago I could have gotten an running, but in rough shape, 802A mounted on the proper trailer for $500. Doubt I'll ever get that opportunity again. I made the mistake of bringing the wife & she wasn't having it. She's usually okay with my projects but...

It get's the job done! There originally was a 20KW generator on this trailer that was taken off. It's a 3,500 lbs axle so I'm good to go.

MEP-802a first connection to the house, report

I have a Trane 4 ton unit. It takes about 70% of the load running in Cooling mode. Enough for me to leave the smaller stuff on like the fridge along with the booster pump. I have an isolation switch for the well pump so it won't all come on at once. I just shut the HVAC off the run the well. We...

MEP-802a first connection to the house, report

I used an interlock kit for my house recently to hook up an 802A if ever needed. Everything is electric at my place, so I can't run everything at once. Sounds like you sized real well!

    MEP 802A Fix-up Thread

Well, it's been a while. I broke my foot & wasn't able to do much. Got the generator mounted onto a trailer. Not as good as the military trailer they should be on but I got it for only $400. Painted it all sand. Going to do a few more coats. I wired in & put 7 outlets on the side of the...

    MEP 802A Fix-up Thread

Ran for 3.5 hours @ 100%. Cleaned off some of the crap built up over the years. Tested the auxiliary pump & it works great. Now to get a hookup to the house & really stretch it legs.

I did & ordered all my filters off that before I even had the generator at my house. :)

    MEP 802A Fix-up Thread

I received my auxiliary fuel hose yesterday. Got one new for under $50. Going to add a pickup line to the 50 gallon fuel tank on my truck so when I bring it out to my off-grid place, I can hook into that fuel source & run for days & not worry. The auxiliary fuel setup is easy to use, but I may...
