No glow plugs. They are a little sluggish in the cold. Diesel fuel additive and a block heater is a huge help in the winter. Or a very small shot of ether and she'll fire off.
The engine itself can do 3k all day long. Turbo upgrades and other supporting mods may be necessary to take full advantage if the additional power/rpm and to keep EGTs down.
I've never heard of someone punching a hole in the tank. Ever. I drive truck for a living and have heard many stories of stolen fuel without a locking cap or junk dumped in the tank but never a hole punched in the tank. Not saying it couldn't happen but I'd say your 1000 times more likely to...
It's unlikely that someone would punch a hole in your tank because of a locking fuel cap. They'd probably just move on to the next guy. A locking cap is good security not only for fuel theft but to keep unwanted items from ending up in your fuel tank (vandalism).
Ditto, one thing to add though. You'll need to use a heavy duty extension cord, not some little dinky one like you use for Christmas lights. They pull a thousand watts or more while plugged in so keep that in mind otherwise you'll notice it on the power bill if you leave it plugged in all the...
Yes, that would definitely cause that issue! You can change buttons but keep the same number (or even add 1 or 2) as the pump that was on the engine had.
Any manifold will flow plenty for that setup. I'd look for one without the after cooler to simply things. Any of the older 335 cummins should have what you need.
No reason to continue debating this with every person who posts on here. Many people on ss, myself included, have had great results by adding a turbo and bumping up the power. It's your truck, do what you want and feel free to share pictures and your results after you do your engine swap.
From personal experience, you can get around 335-350 horse safety from the NHC 250 by adding a turbo and doing pump adjustments. The small cam is a non issue unless you plan on exceeding 250,000 or more miles on that rig. Considering most are current under 20k, I don't think that will happen...
I'm with the other guys, $800-1k is far more reasonable. At $2,500 a few sets will be made then production will stop for good. Hope you never need replacement parts... At $800-1k lots will sell to us and the guys who use these on mud/4x4 rigs. You may even see them in the classifieds in the...
Tranny probably needs to come out and be repaired. If you were to change your engine oil with the engine running but not the oil filter, the results would probably be the same....
