What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Parked it in the garage, closed the door, gave it "project" status while I think of what to do next. Installed the new Dana 60 kingpin springs & whatever those plastic cup pieces are called in an attempt to cure death wobble. Now its much much worse, its undriveable. Its 100 degrees out, I...

avatar shows up on external search engine

It stripped the avatar out of the post and put it in a photo album. I'm not upset about it, just surprised that the algorithm exists to do that.

avatar shows up on external search engine

Now thats interesting : I posted on our site here, did not get much response so went to a popular search site. I typed what I was looking for into the search line and notice that my SS avatar appeared in the "images" associated with that subject. I guess maybe I'm getting paranoid about how...

    serpentine mudflap VHF antenna

My thoughts are along the lines of driving to the top of a hill then facing the rear of the vehicle toward where I want to communicate. Not on a regular basis, rather, for emergency or relay comms. I am really am trying to keep the outside of my vehicle as clean as possible (no roof rack, fuel...

Did the headlight harness conversion. Pretty easy. That harness is not even one inch too long tho, careful how you route it.

    serpentine mudflap VHF antenna

There is a company that makes them, embedded in mudflaps with an RF connector. I imagine one could come up with a poor man's version, sandwiched between two flaps. Your thoughts ?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Um, yeah, there are a couple of non-compliant features on this truck : no rear plate light or mudflaps. There is a light on the bumper, residual from when the plate was located there, I suppose I could turn it upside down so it faces upward. I'd rather run a wire into the tailgate tho. And am...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

weld & grind, then install yellow parts. You see, anything I replace I paint CAT yellow, that way I know what I fixed. Pics no load from PC. So I'll just tell you that, after a test drive, I have noticed one immediate effect due to the crossover steering : The truck would "tug" at the...

    Starter FUBAR

Voltage sources in series.....like batteries in a flashlight. Doesn't seem that complicated to me...and I don't have an advanced degree.

    CUCV community tool box

I like the tool sharing idea. Seems like the specialty tools group in project categories like brakes, suspension, steering, etc. For example I just had to buy a 7/16 12 pt socket , 18mm tubing wrench, and pickle fork to do some steering work. Any one particular tool isn't so expensive but its a...
