Your A3 should have short air packs on it. The first 1 1/2 inches from the back are sealed and you should have no problem drilling and tapping that. I wouldn't leave it unsecured as it might agitate the brake or air lines going to it. I don't have an A3 and have limited experience with them...
They have tried to make the diesel trucks run warmer as an attempt to get cleaner exhaust. My National Guard M1089A1P2 will make it's fan holler once warmed up and running down the road. The fan cuts in at about 210 or so indicated and cuts out around 180. Once the fan kicks in, you can watch...
Can I post pictures of the wrecker that got stuck as well? Luckily it was able to self recover with use of the spade on the back and some solid pieces of wood. I had to use some of my Hotel 8 training on that adventure. Second pic will represent the truck I intend to enter.
I'll toss my Deuce back up!! It got some good votes when I showed pictures of it stuck during my Christmas Adventure at my parents house so it might do good again. First pic was when released by the Government and second pic is as she sits today.
I can help at the Registration Tent from 6 to whenever on Thursday. I may be able to start a little earlier depending on Murphy's plans for my small groups ride up. I may even be able to talk Atomic and GoDawgsdv8 to hang out with me. On Friday my family will make it up and I'll be tied to...
I've got this. Shipping up North, I might learn something as I've never sent anything out that weighed more than 10 pounds but the SS Express works good if you know people. My Cargo Cover on my Deuce started out in Maryland, it got taken to a few Rally's and about 6 months later, it made it to...
I run 40W Non Detergent Engine oil in my trans and transfer at the suggestion of ¨M35Tom¨ on here. He has a vast amount of knowledge on these transmissions and even offers a taller overdrive kit for the Deuce. I did notice about a 30 degree temp drop on my transfer case after the change in...
They are open diff's on these trucks. Mine makes all kinds of pops and clunks going through ruts thanks to a flexible frame and a rigid bed. If you rode in my truck on the trail ride at the GA Rally, you'd think an axle was about to drop out or the bed might fall off with some of the noises...
My old wrecker (M936A2) was like that. It idled low and would struggle to run to 2,000 rpm in neutral. New fuel filter's did wonders on that truck but the problem would come back. My truck had developed algae in the fuel tanks from sitting month to month. The Guard put new tanks on it...
I also use the 50 ft. lbs. method with the tires spinning and back off a half turn, torque the outer to 150 ft. lbs. and have had no problems. Hub temps on a hot GA Day from the last GA Rally which is 190 miles one way for me were between 120 and 130 in 90 degree ambient temps running steady at...
PB,
My MV's are part of my ¨Family¨. I think alot of people consider them as such so that was my gist concerning a ¨Family Member¨. My Family expanded when the M35A2, M1028, M105A2, and M1102 joined Lee, Joey, Briggs and myself over the past few years.
I'd have some awesome pics to post up of an M1A1 in full OIF I glory if we were allowed to post pictures of MV's we've signed for!! That nice Half Track wouldn't stand a chance!!! It's gotta be one of your family members or one of your friends ¨current¨ family members to be entered.
NDT,
There may be different push button light switches but I've never heard of it. I do know that the newer FMTV's have pushbutton light switches that look exactly like the one's you'll find in my Deuce or a HMMWV. I also know the newer FMTV's still have 12 volt light bulbs so there may be a...
Peashooter, Thanks for your link to this thread. The different perches would explain why Firestone T831's made my truck a handful to drive while others seem to have no issues. On my truck, it would follow every pebble in the road and had very poor return to center. I ground my spring perches...
Sir, you are correct on that. MCSC BAR was one of the old names which equaled Marine Corps Supply Center Barstow. It is the Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow now. The new acronym they apply to rebuild tags is MDMC PPB which stands for Marine Depot Maintenance Command - Production Plant...
