Take the head and put some sand paper on flat surface and sand the head to see if it's true.
Could not tell by strait edge on it but sanding sure showed it.
On my tan M923 the wires were good and there was no problem with the stop light pressure switch.
It turned out to be the service light switch.
The headlights and everything would work except the brake lights.
Changed it out and all was good.
On my work truck it would have OK pedal then next time it would go to the floor and scare the crap out of ya when it decided to go to floor at the worst moments.
Yes getting those two bolts in the back under the IP it a royal pain the ass to get out and back in
Also rub the head against some sand paper and see if head is true if not it will blow head gasket.
