turning an M936A2 wrecker into something even more useful

What about a M931 or M932 and a variety of trailers. The issue would be a CDL since it is required in KALIFORNIA, I believe. I was going to do that but don't want to mess with CDL requirement.

turning an M936A2 wrecker into something even more useful

I can see the idea of interchanging the different boxes and beds if you only owned 1 or 2 trucks. But Why would you need to go through all the trouble of doing all the mods if you have enough trucks to have variety with the trucks intact. I am just giving my opinion. Not telling you what to...

    Blown up starter...

Use the battery terminal clamps that are used on the M35 and 5 ton trucks. You can get cables made at any welding supply places. I have done that for my custom cables on the 5 ton truck. All they have to do is crimp on the proper connectors on the end of the cables for you. You can get...

I did some calculations to determine if my micro switch settings were correct. What I determined is: Since my RPM readings are a little high and the micro switches are set for the highest pulses per revolution there is no way to lower the displayed RPM by choosing a lower Pulses per RPM -since...

Today was a nice day out so I decided to start working on the Tachometer hookup. I set up some wires with a 5 amp fuse in-line and attached it to the 12 volt battery. I tapped into the single thin brown wire coming from the driver's side alternator. Hooked it tot he spade terminals on the...

    Air wipers are not working

Did you try to tighten the screws on the end to see if it would stop the air leak?

    Air wipers are not working

The U- shaped tubes are the exhaust vents. They are supposed to be that way. Check to see if they are venting. Use the manual lever to sweep the wipers back and forth. I took the air hose off and sprayed WD-40 into the tube. I then used the manual sweep handle to work the wiper back and...

trans shifting hard and late shifts, m1009

There are about 3 or 4 different diameter lines. Some are only 4" to 6" long. We took all the vacuum lines off and took them to Advanced Auto Parts to size up. It cost me less than $20 for all the hoses and the modulator valve combined. The Modulator valve was only about $12.

When was the last time you replaced the vacuum hoses. Mine was doing that until I replaced the vacuum hoses and modulator valve. Maybe the low temperatures caused the hoses to crack.

I ordered the ethylene foam panels this weekend so I can sound insulate the back of the cab as well as the floor. Since it is a closed cell foam it will not absorb any water that could rust the metal. I plan to use polyurethane construction adhesive to glue the panels to the back walls. Not...
