Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicles

We're talking MRAP's again!!!!!!! The Buffalo so far is the safest. I've seen plenty of them in bad shape on the outside but none that looked too bad on the inside. We've gotten quite a few Cougars that seemed to have faired fairly well. As for my previous comments on the Caiman, the class...

Official 2010 SS Ga Rally Info thread

I'll be bringing 2 NOS 5 Ton covers (Tan), 1 set of new fiberglass and metal bows, an MTVR Towbar, NOS Deuce filter's, a pair of 900 series NOS windshield wiper motors, Deuce NOS axle seals, parking brake shoes, and misc other stuff. All of it's military surplus, no cheap chinese seals that seem...

Bummed out today-Sold my deuce last night

I sold one of mine recently. I second you on the yard looking funny with 1 less truck. Hopefully you made enough on the sale to get a free one like I did.

    Albany, GA to NC

Travis's truck is in my front yard. Do I need to pull the doors and store them for a while?

    Oshkosh FMTV

My Guard Unit just received 2 of them. The cabs have suicide doors now, the MHE Crane is different as well. I'll get some pics on Monday.

    Towing M813 with Deuce

I've done it with 817's and 818's behind my Deuce, some of the 5 ton's had singles. What I noticed from the trucks with singles is that the higher towbar attachment point would try to make my Deuce spin the rear tires upon initial take off. Once rolling, no problem and when braking, the 5 ton...

Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicles

My opinions after attending MRAP U at Red River Army Depot, Texas. RG-31: Great ride, smooth handling, handles a 60% uphill and a 30% side slope just fine in low range, cramped interior, questionable air assisted doors. RG-33: Great ride up front, in rear it feels like the back end is...

    Oshkosh FMTV

I wouldn't be surprised if they install independent TAK-4 Suspension (MTVR fame) in the near future. From what I heard during attendance at MRAP University, it's becoming a requirement for all MRAP's in theater and I'm sure Oshkosh wouldn't mind doing so upgrades to keep Uncle Sam happy.

    Rear Axle leak questions

10-4, I spelled that out in this post last year.

    Crazy about the new M-ATV

I just returned from attending MRAP University at Red River Army Depot. The M-ATV is by far the best driving MRAP on the market today. It had no problem at all on the 60% grade ramp and would easily pull to 70 MPH on the test track on the straights, 55 MPH in the curves. Great product that...

    Newbie

Nice to meet Russ today. I got the opportunity to show him my deuces and help answer alot of questions he had about this hobby / addiction. We did a quick walk around and PMCS, found yet another flat on my trophy Deuce (4th one in 8 months), checked the Artic Deuce and he drove it around the...

    Gauges acting up

My deuce's gauges are acting a little funny right now. This all started when I ran the truck yesterday and left the flashers on. The flasher seems to have died as they just stay on constant now. At the same time, the oil pressure and temp gauges started reading incorrectly. When you turn the...

    Oshkosh P-19 rapid intervention vehicle

I be back in Albany on Friday next week. I have the manuals you desire in (at least USMC ones) and I'll send them to you for the cost of postage (It's Gov helping Gov so I can't charge, I've got a pubs warehouse at the Marine Base in Albany that I'm friends with). Let me know and they'll be in...

    Thanks sandcobra

Guys, I appreciate all the nice comments. Dale, I don't know how you're thanking me when the dang fuel tank fell off on your trip home, maybe I should have checked that bracket a little closer. Corey, you're a great guy but you had to meet me about 2/3 of the way because the water pump and...

M920 from Ft Stewart, GA to StL, MO on 22 Jun

If you're coming down 82/520, I can help within about a 100 mile radius of Albany, GA. I may be able to talk my local Guard unit out of their HEMMT Wrecker for a little bit of use if need be. Yes, they are that nice but of course, I'm a member of the local unit so they take good care of me.

    towing M818 backwards

I did tow from the front, I replaced the damaged hook. I mentioned that earlier. The axle clamps look neat though. I saw a pair on Ebay but I don't know if I'm going to encounter this problem enough to need a pair. I simply beat the bumper back into shape with a sledge hammer and pushed it...

    towing M818 backwards

I got the truck home and now it runs. It wouldn't prime at the base to save it's life. I learned that somewhere along the way, someone tried to use heater hose on the input line from the passenger side tank to the tank select valve and it was cracked / oversized and would not seal up. I...

    towing M818 backwards

I posted pics in the Conversations section. I replaced the tow hook and towed it behind my Deuce. It was a pain to replace as the rear bolt hole of the original tow hook had let go and the bumper got bent in the process. Took about 50 hits from the BFH (Big Fixing Hammer) and a push from a...
