    m818 towing m818 questions

I know that I'm not the smartest man in the world but how is putting air to service line of the truck being towed going to activate the brake system on a truck that has air over hydraulic brakes? I know these 800 series trucks will roll freely with no air pressure so the emergency line is...

how to tell if it is gov. owned

The National Guard is letting all of their's out finally. It's most likely no longer govn't owned, The Guard is the last to receive new trucks and they halted order's for replacement parts over a year ago. I'm in the Guard and speak firsthand. We've got LMTV's and the Deuce's are just an item...

    No tubo whine

Mine only whined occasionally until I turned the fuel up. Now it whines whenever you press the diesel pedal down in 4th or 5th. I only turned it up a little, just a light puff of black smoke when pressing the accelerator at idle. Runs like a completely different truck though.

    Ebay claims again-wow

He's just testing the water. I do love the multi fuel mulit paint scheme. Paint the Axles yellow, that'll look like good construction equipment, paint the rest of the truck white, that's what some flipper's do, black frame, check. Now 30K sounds like what I spent!!!!!! I'll give him credit...

    Common Oil Pressure?

Just curious as to what most of these trucks run oil pressure wise. Mine drops to about 10# at idle and just below 60# going down the road. It's got a 120# gauge so I'm wondering if mine's running low on oil pressure. I'm aware that they originally came with a 60 psi gauge but I'm a little...

Convoy of USMC MTVR's,HMMWV in Jersey 4-1-10

In regards to the hole cut out in the tailgate, that is useful on an unarmored variant to make sure you're not backing over a car or something. The MTVR's are great and I'm glad I'm young enough to get one in about 30 years when they go on GL. The only shame is that the Army developed this...

    Lucas oil additive

There are some ego's out there but even when it comes to personal insults, you just have to let that roll off your back and not respond to it. This is the internet and you never know who you're talking too. There's a saying I remember, "it's best not to argue with an idiot as bystanders may...

Hey looking at buying a M35A2 need help

Actually sounds about right for private party trucks, the winch is coveted and adds anywhere from $1500 to $2000 on a good truck. At auction, good luck, they go for lower but the GL cameramen know how to photograph around the bad stuff like a rod through the side of the block. Preview in...

    What's this???

MWMULES, that's the best sounding response so far. The open and boxed end are of the same size. Do you need one? If so, PM me and it's yours for the cost of shipping. I just felt like it was obviously a issued piece of gear that needed a good home. I don't have a use for it but didn't want...

    M818 Won't crank

I didn't think it would be locked based on my experience this last week. They may turn by hand on the fan after being run but they take a lot to break free after they've sat up for a few years. Just from what I've seen and by no means am I an authority on these motors.

    What's this???

Found this behind the driver's seat in my truck while cleaning out the cab. What is it? Does anyone need one?

    Deuce Driving lights

I've got trucklite 7" LED's in mine and couldn't be happier. Oncoming traffic hates me though, they flash their brights and I flash mine and they quickly go back to dims.

    Axle Leaks

I agree, that was the hardest part the first time. After rounding up all the tools I'd need to do the job, I kept putting it off. Once I finally jumped into the axle, it was only about a 2 hour process from start to finish and much easier than I imagined. Everything is pretty heavy though...

    M818 Won't crank

I doubt the engine is locked, he just doesn't have enough battery to crank it. I'll bet 1 dollar on it!!!!!!!

    M818 Won't crank

And all the ones that gave the loud thud cranked up and drove out once properly motivated with battery power and slave vehicle power.

    M818 Won't crank

Just helped on a recovery this week. That Cummins is hard to spin if it's sat for a while. It finally took 4 used batteries and about a 5 minute charge from a HMMWV to get that 817 to crank over. Previously, it just gave the loud thud that you're referring to. I've ran into this about 5...

    Dump Truck Running Poorly

Made a little progress on the dump today. After a little PMCS, a lot of grease and some hydraulic oil, we have a functioning dump bed!!!!!!!!! Next will be the leaking wheel cylinder when it comes in!!!!!!!!

    Newbie With Fluid Questions

hmmm..... Put some Lucas in it!!!!!!!!! We all just had a great pissing contest over that one. Search around, the TM's are downloadable from ARMY6X6, LLC as well as on this site and just make sure that you pay attention on the transmission oil as the synchros are picky and will not last in the...

    Axel seals & pinion seal

You don't have to pull the rear tires. I lift the axle housing, remove the axle shaft, loosen the spindle nuts, place a furniture dolly underneath the tire / brake drum, lower tires onto it slightly, remove spindle nuts / seal / outer bearing and roll the assembly out from under the truck...

Westfolk's Steel Oil Spin On Adapters

Well, I got a set from the last auction. I'm glad I read his ad this time around as I'm new to this. I traded filters (1060's, they were still wrapped in plastic) and paid the difference for 1794's which apparently are not anti-drainback as spelled out in his current ad (Perhaps I didn't read...
