I second Ernie's post. If you check the manual, the M1009 is not supposed to pull an M101. That does not stop many people from doing so, however. Still, if you want a tow vehicle, buy a civilian truck. If you have to have a military tow vehicle, buy an M1008/M1028.

Did it start when you test drove it? Did the seller mention any starting problems? I suggest starting there.

82ABNMP had it right with his post on another thread. Find a guy who is selling his personal truck as opposed to a guy who is buying and flipping. Your price range is right for a reasonable truck. PM me if you can't find anything and I'll steer you to someone with a truck.

You might also check with the guy from whom you bought the truck. They might have some ideas.

There is no such thing as a cheap source for the correct vise, although"cheap" is a relative term. They are hard to come by. I sold a few new ones a couple months back and they went like hotcakes. I suggest you contact the big dealers as they are the people likely to have residue wreckers.

I am guessing that JWALLER, WESTFOLK, or WSUCOUGARX did not notice that I had already responded. I am going to defer to them as they obviously are more motivated sellers.

It looks like you got one hit on your listing. I would never have thought you would get it done for $850. That is cheap! I did not check the exact mileage, but you can usually bet on $2/loaded mile and more like $3/loaded mile with a landoll. You are better off getting a guy with a step deck...

Those were very cool videos. Thank you for sharing them. The problem with playing with big trucks is servicing big trucks. That is why I rarely take my trucks in the mud or water. Now comes the part that is even more enjoyable...the servicing! If your axles were submerged even for a second...

It will be difficult to make your truck unnoticeable. The truck looks military even if you paint it a civilian color. I suggest solid green or solid tan. Camo definitely stands out more since you don't see camo trucks every day.

Does the truck come with the stock 1100s to go back on it? I am not a big fan of the oversized tires. I was really looking for an M819, but your M816 caught my eye.

1600s are a way overkill on a 5 ton. Your power WILL suffer. If you drive on level ground ALL of the time, you should be fine. If you have ANY hills, you will notice a decrease in power. 1400s are plenty big for a 5 ton. They look meaty and you still have good power.

I actually bought mine elsewhere, but Breton should have a cover, too.
