Thanks, Robb! That information would have changed my suggestion. Since it mainly will be a pleasure vehicle, I suggest increasing the tire size to 1400s. Try them out BEFORE you swap in an overdrive transmission as the larger tires may give you enough road speed. If you want more, go with...
Perhaps, I missed this in an earlier thread. What will you be doing with the M52A2? Is it strictly for pleasure driving or will you haul a trailer? Highway or local driving?
I once owned an M543A2 wrecker with the non-overdrive transmission that you have. Max road speed was 47 MPH and I believe that was at 2,500 RPM. Larger tires will help with the top speed, but you will lose power. Switching to the overdrive transmission should allow you to drive at 53 MPH or...
Keep in mind when planning your camper that the M105 is not water tight. When it rains hard, water will stream across the bed floor. I have slept many nights in M105 trailers. You definitely have to keep anything that you don't want to get wet off of the floor. Good luck!
We know...you are not interested in bidding but you figured others might be so you posted a link to an ongoing or upcoming auction. As stated above, this is a big no-no. Would you have posted the info if you intended to bid?
John, I am not sure where to suggest you look. I would think the big dealers like Memphis will have it. Unfortunately, as you know, there are almost no A2 parts trucks from what I have been able to gather. The A2 specific exhaust and air intake parts are almost non-existent in the surplus...
Randy, thanks for your perspective. Often, this list is missing the perspective of the actual user as most of us have never served and used these vehicles in the service.
DCWILKIE, not sure if you know this, but it is against site rules to mention any upcoming or ongoing auction. I suggest you edit your post or else a moderator will.
There really is almost nothing in common between the M44A3 and the M939A2 series. They are almost completely different. Sure, there are commonalities...reflectors, composite lights, head lights, side marker lights, doors...and probably a few more. Name something else and it is different. I am...
GE...you are right...everything must go "within reason." If the guy was getting $4K previously and took $2500 now, that would seem to be fire sale pricing. A fire sale does not mean the guy has to sell the truck for a grand when he paid more. I can almost guarantee you he did pay more because...
It only makes sense that they will want more than they paid at auction. Think back to the auctions in MD and DE. This guy was buying everything up and paying reasonable prices. I remember seeing the same bidder # winning truck after truck. So, figure he paid $1,500 per truck. Do the math...
Not sure what to tell you other than you have a really unique truck there. That M109 has the older style horizontal exhaust. That is not common at all anymore. Nothing bad about it...just more rare. Good luck!
