You can pull the injector, disassemble the nozzle, and clean it in an ultrasonic tank. That may not be it though. Could be more likely the injector is leaking at the pintle. But even that could be re-lapped in with lapping compound. Easiest would be just to buy a used injector from somebody...
OK, so after more study of the service manual on the Cummins Quickserve portal, it looks like the 8.3 injection timing is set by monitoring flow out of the #1 injection line, while supplying 300-375psi of fuel into the injection pump. Rotate the engine until the flow slows to a drip, and read...
I also have free access to Cummins QuickServe (everybody does), and I can't seem to find any useful injection timing info. They talk about IP spill port timing, and they show the dial indicator to measure plunger #1 height ion their tool section of that chapter, but there is no table or chart...
Without checking the TM or Allison resources, I believe I remember the Allison MT654CR transmission reverse gear ratio is in the range of 10:1, as where for a comparison, first forward gear is 4:1 (or 4.xx:1, but just rounding here). Another simple way to see the reverse ratio is to simply...
$600 for the equivalent belt driven clutched one, plus the headache of mounting and driving it on the engine front.
I just looked this up for another member for moving waste motor oil, and I found prices of $100 for a used Honda 5.5hp GX160 engine, and $50 for a used 25gpm pump. Just buy the...
Wait, you have a level wind on there. Now I don't understand the lever, besides not having to climb in and out of the cab to use the winch, of which you should not be there when pulling anyway, if avoidable. It looks good and you did a nice job though, very crafty.
It is not alternator confusion. These factory alternators just flat out suck. This forum has numerous active threads on it even right now of alternator problems, just on page one! Ugh. I do have a stock one working on my truck, but it seems they are so picky about any disturbances in the...
Good job. That is how I want to wind my winch cable also. Gloves, be careful, and it should work just fine. I would not pull a load from that position in case something breaks. Cable may go through the radiator, but probably not through a windshield unless cable is at a negative incline.
The stock alternator is adjustable. Try turning it down first. You can run the truck an incredible distance with no charging system if you need to, and even further during the day, just take the alt belt off. Zip tie the stop solenoid back and unplug it.
Not a lot of them have Bosch MW pumps. Seems to be prevalent in 939A2 series and some agricultural applications. The Bosch P7100 pump is more common I believe (much higher volume school buses and motorhomes). The MW has a very similar looking in-line pump, but governor is completely...
I will. Was going to take it in this week, but aunt died (was not close with her). So, moved to next week Mon. I am going to tell them to assess the situation first, as if they predict more than 4 hours of shop time to do so, then I will just buy the tools myself and go that route. From what...
It is good you are researching instead of just doing, you would have been greatly disappointed the way this would have turned out for you. Yes, this has been considered quite a few times by others. Yes, hopefully you did try a search first, as that is where I obtained this a while back. This...
I bought one of those Wilton hitch mount vices. I'll probably never use this silly thing, but it is now in the truck box. Maybe I'll crack some walnuts with it at Christmas...

Cool. Start fusing coupons together and striking them with a hammer. If they break at the weld, you have more to learn. If they fold over and the weld stays, good enough for hobby level.
Useful info. The only thing in the inlet tract when doing so is the empty tube between the filter canister and the turbo compressor inlet, of which the restriction gauge port tap is located half way between. Well, that sucks (get it?).
I'm so intrigued with this intercooler deal now that somebody forged the path first, and the way it seems to be a near factory fit around the radiator, that I immediately went out and acquired the same one. Guy was asking $250 on eBay, I called and offered him $100 and he took it. Additional...
Adding to above, minimum speed limits exist for a reason. If you willingly enter a freeway knowing your vehicle can not achieve the minimum, and somebody rear ends you, you could be standing in court with a judge asking you why you got on the freeway, when you knew the minimum posted speed...
Laid the pipes against the bumper just for a visual, yes, the wrong way. That is just how they came out of the car. Each is 12' long. Towbar will slip over the ends of these, and that should complete the crane frame once the feet are pinned on. Next pic I'm going to tie it back with a 30'...
Picked up the welded knuckles/tubes. They beveled both surfaces then filled it with weld and said it won't come apart. Fabulous what a dozen bagels gets.
