    Diesel heater vs. coolant heater

On the M35A3, the heater was moved inside the cab. I did not know why, although I assumed it had to do with space under the hood. Now, I believe it might have been for the reason that HAMMER mentions.

Is a CUCV Noisy & Smoky?

Unless your CUCV smokes more than most, I don't think they smoke much and the same goes for the noise factor. I will say that an M1009 that I used to have would seriously carry on if it was really cold out. It sounded like it had a few bolts loose in the motor until it got warm.

    Fort Lewis Recovery

Keith, if it helps, you can find the mud flap kits on eBay...but they are expensive. If you cannot locate it, call me. I understand your frustration.

    Fort Lewis Recovery

By the way, the mud flap kits are around...but they are pricey. I believe they are in the several hundred dollar range.

    Fort Lewis Recovery

Keith...the "what else is missing now" thought crosses my mind every time I buy from GL and my truck sits on their lot. I feel badly for you. Someone else helped themselves to your mudflaps because they liked them and wished they were on their tractor. If it bothers you that much, contact GL...

    Fort Lewis Recovery

Keith, it sure does look like the mud flaps are gone. That sucks. You can try to contact GL...but they will only let you back out of the sale if you choose to do so...no compensation...or at least no one one here has reported positive compensation.

Drove deuce for the first time. A3/A2?

DITTLE has some good points to consider. Parts availability is a problem. This is something to consider before buying one.

Drove deuce for the first time. A3/A2?

The cost is more like three, four or five times the cost of an A2. If you find an A3 going for $6K, you stole it. Most A2s bring $2K or less (I'd guess the average cost is closer to $1,500 or so). The A3 is just as "fast" as the A2. The belief that it is slower is a myth. It is much quicker...

Drove deuce for the first time. A3/A2?

Price is a good reason to stay away from the A3. All things being equal, it is a superior truck, though. However, you can buy several good A2s for the price of one A3.

Matt, I can do that. PM me your cell #. I'll go out to the trailer and take whatever measurements you need.

Looking for a CBC (cargo bed cover) for a m105

I've got one. I don't want to sell it, though. Not trying to wave it in your face...just pointing out that they come out once in a while.

    Fort Lewis Recovery

The cab has the heater controls, but the actual heater is missing from the engine compartment. I saw the controls and told you it had a heater. It looks like I was only partially correct. That will be a simple fix since you probably only have to install and hook up the actual heater unit...

It was an honor to help out. When CARNAC asked me if I could carry David to the cemetary, I immediately agreed! It was the least I could do for such an honorable man. It made me feel nice to know that I was giving him his last ride in a military vehicle.

    939 Protective Control Box source

I don't know the truth of this...but this is what John Winslow told me. The control box on an M939A2 will work on an M809, but not the reverse. I never tried it so I am not sure. This is definitely what I heard from John.

how cold has it been and started?

Zero degrees here this morning and the M35A3 started up fairly easily with a sniff of starting fluid. Admittedly, I had to feather the pedal for about 30 seconds while the motor smoothed out a bit.

Keith, maybe someone in that area can do a pre-inspection to see if the truck could be made roadworthy. I know your mechanic skills...you will be fine.

Air lines/hoses to M939 series wiper motor question

I want to replace the airlines (rubber hoses) that go to the wiper motors on my M925A2. Would anyone know what size is needed? I left the house today without measuring. Thanks!

Try to contact ATANKERSDAD (Dudley). Really, though, CARNAC is the guy to talk with for info.
