Does/has anyone here used STP oil treatment in their generators?

It's basically for the cams since they are all flat tappet. Now if they had rollers that would be a totally different story. All modern engine oils work great for them.

Would a M35A2/LDT465 parts manufacturing business be successful?

Actually that is a pretty good idea. If you could provide a complete bolt-on system that was more modern with easy parts availability then you could have a winner ! I think one of the biggest problems with all our deuce brakes is the antiquated brake "anchor" system. Modern trucks use "floating"...

Does/has anyone here used STP oil treatment in their generators?

The problem with "STP" and other additives like it is they make the oil to thick to flow properly. You wouldn't use gear oil in your high revving engine would you ? The same applies here. It can gum up things like your oil filter and oil pump pick-up screen. I've actually seen that. The screen...

    Torque rods kicking my butt

That's the power of a tapered socket. Be sure to put "anti-seize" back on the new tapered shaft ends. I use "Marine" grade anti-seize. It doesn't wash off as easily as the other ones.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

The industry has used those types of shims for over 40 years now to correct Camber in 4X4 trucks. I prefer the "Stainless Steel" shims myself. The axles themselves can get bent and instead of trying to get the bend out just slap on one of those shims in. The last time I used one was to fix my...

Does/has anyone here used STP oil treatment in their generators?

Your "Detroits" have roller cams so no need for any ZDDP type of additive. I too only use Synthetic oils. In my engines, transmissions, differentials and transfer-cases. I have for decades now. My vehicles bodies wear out before thier drivetrains fail.

Does/has anyone here used STP oil treatment in their generators?

I have no problem using STP for assembly work. It sticks well and during "first start-up" prevents wear and galling. I was referring to constant use as in every oil change.

Does/has anyone here used STP oil treatment in their generators?

Yeah I never touch the stuff since I learned about it in Tech School. None of the instructors had anything good to say about it ! Over all these years I have personally seen the damage it can do to an engine. Just stay with a good engine oil like "Rotella" or "Dello" . The only additive I use...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I think he did an excellent job !

A really satisfying Ooops! or..just stupidity.

Well now you know it is fixed ! No more worrying if it will act up on you. Still that is a "newbie" move ! You get the "red face of shame" for that ! LOL !!!! Of course we all have had the "red face of shame" one time or another ! Just last year I rebuilt my TH400 for no reason ! Simple...

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

The smaller "thermo-electric" units are OK, but they cannot bring the temperature down enough to really "freeze" any thing. This unit can bring it down to -9F degrees ! That's cold even for a standard refrigerator/freezer ! Or even a modern deep freeze ! I say modern as the older units back in...

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

I recently bought an "AcuTemp AX56L" HemaCool mobile blood storage and cooling refrigerator from fellow steel soldiers member "firefinder" . It is awesome ! It weighs in at 148 Ibs so it's no light weight, this is a serious piece of equipment. It can operate on 120V A/C, 24V DC, 12V DC and...

Strange slipping or possibly downshifting issue on M1009

I would bet money on it being the intermediate clutch pack which includes the sprag. If the sprag went it would take out the clutches. There is only 3 there. On most TH400's there is only two clutches in the intermediate clutch assembly. You can buy the special "Blue Alto" clutches and machine...

Strange slipping or possibly downshifting issue on M1009

I'm pretty sure you lost your sprag. Or like I like to say "sprag-ue" . But do check out your modulator like "cucvrus" mentioned. Also let us know what happened.

Strange slipping or possibly downshifting issue on M1009

Have you tried to shift manually ? If you can shift manually then the most likely culprit is the "one-way Sprag" . They are a common repair item. That is why there is a 32 Sprag replacement out there.

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

Have you driven one of the new 2018 Duramax diesels ? That thing is crazy scary powerfull !!! If you put one of them into a deuce you would break about every drivetrain component in a week !

    Lost my fuel cap.

I didn't realize that. To bad I threw away my filler necks when I converted to the gas engine. I had to replace the fuel tanks due to rust, so I just bought a new complete system. Just like I should have saved all the electrical parts ! I always seem to get burned when I toss stuff away !

    Lost my fuel cap.

No, it has the standard fuel tank and filler. The diesel units just have the little metal spacer removed. You know that piece of metal that doesn't allow you to fill up with leaded fuels. That's why it looks bigger.

    Lost my fuel cap.

Go to NAPA or "O-Reilly's Auto" or any auto store for that matter. They all carry them. Remember this is just for a standard Chevy truck guys. I bought two last year for mine. They both are "Stants" . Cost about $10.00 each. This truck is 90% civilian guys. Nothing magical here.
