    1941 K18-C GMC Recovered today

Considering the already once cooked wiring and the leaky carb I think "firing" it up may not be the right term to use.:roll:

    Reserve on auctions?

More money to GL means more money to the govt.. Budgets are tight, who is going to say anything? Us? Yea right, like anyone is going to listen. And technically they are still selling to the highest bidder. If the bids do not reach the reserve they just lower it for the next...

    Reserve on auctions?

Well, all the ones I was looking at all sold. Some crazy prices too. I guess as long as people will pay it then the prices will stay there. Look at generator prices in Hawaii if you want to get bummed out, unless you are in Hawaii that is.

    Reserve on auctions?

I don't know what the going price normally is on the later gen-sets but I would say that was a good price IF and only IF they ran. That is the key to buying stuff here, there are no guarantee's. What would you have said if you got them home and it was seized? I would bet you would not have been...

    Reserve on auctions?

And the bottom line is probably less money at the end of the year for the government. Either way, not good for us.

    Reserve on auctions?

I am not talking about the minimum bid, I am talking about reaching a reserve before the bid is accepted. Looks like over a grand on MEP003's! Ain't getting it from me!!!

    Reserve on auctions?

When did they start putting a reserve on auctions? I am looking at generators and they all have a reserve, a fairly high one for what I am looking at from the looks of it.

One for you 1070 guys, NEVER give up!

That is exactly where I was thinking of when I saw that. He knew to keep the front wheels on the high side where the driest dirt was and it paid off.

A rollback is almost as hard to get stuck as a backhoe. Bed down and push, bed down and push, repeat after me.;) I have gotten out of some sandy, muddy and snowy conditions that way. Not fast and miserable work but it gets you out.

One for you 1070 guys, NEVER give up!

Just goes to show that persistence sometimes pays off. That was what, 10 gallons of fuel in that section? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-JDUzH2n-4

Well, you had a rollback, could have made some money back at the accident.

True, And I have put new clutches on beat up flywheels as long as they did not have heat spots and they worked just fine.

You don't think that flywheel is in need of a turning? Looks a bit on the rough side.

Helluva banging noise and won't turn over

CSM, Technically yes, IF it were the original from the factory starter and even then they were changing over at that time. I keep forgetting that 30 years ago is 1985! That is depressing, I am getting old. I have never heard an engine "Banging" due to a low battery, Solenoid chatter or not. If...

Helluva banging noise and won't turn over

Just as an aside, Do NOT bang on the starter unless you plan on replacing it! That worked 30 years ago when the magnets were ferrous magnets but now they are ceramic rare earth magnets and will break very easily if you hammer on them.
