Thanks, Kenny and Swami. What does a Direct Support unit do exactly? This is the first time I've ever come across a DS # on one of my bumpers. Please pardon my ignorance on this issue...
I have an M35A2 with which I was hoping to get some help translating the bumper #s. As you face the truck, on the passenger's side front bumper: NCARNG 691MT, on the driver's side front bumper: DS161. I know that the NCARNG stands for the North Carolina Army National Guard, but I did not...
I've paid $75 a side for fiberglass troop seats. Of course that was some years back when Richard Green was still alive. Man, he was a great guy and had everything for the deuces...a true loss for the hobby. I'd say that $50-75 ought to get you some troop seats.
Cool truck, Steve. Good luck with it! The reason the truck looks like a child painted it is because it has the older 4 color camo and units were told to simply touch up the paint until it went in for an overhaul (and would have received the newer 3 color camo). This means that it has been...
I have never participated, but would love to one of these years. The only problem I've had with the convoy is that it puts you at the show so late on Thursday...the best day IMHO for buying stuff.
What about the water pump as Mike mentioned? I lost the alternator belt on a deuce while driving it without my knowing it and the temperature shot up rapidly. That was the only tip that something was amiss. Needless to say that my trip was cut short until I found a NAPA to replace the belts.
Bob, let me know if you want the one that is on my M929. I can't get it for you this week because it is currently on my M929. As I believe I mentioned to you, it is fairly nice, but has a small rust hole in one corner. Deliver the hood to me and it is yours!
RE: Photos in Auction don
FMJ: Yeah, I had the pics and could have proved that the damage happened after I bid on and won the trucks, but I was not sure that GL would have done anything for me except allow me to back out of the bid. I definitely wanted the trucks as they are near fresh...
Bjorn: I doubt you'll find one surplus, although you'd think there would be one out there some where. If you can give them the old remains and measurements, a place like Beachwood Canvas can replicate your old top. Same goes for WeeBee Webbing and New Life Canvas Resources.
RE: Photos in Auction don
Yes, I've heard of this happening. I have also picked up a truck with damage that was not shown in the pics. Both hoods on the M814s that I recently picked up had been damaged, but the trucks were not damaged until after I had won them and they needed to move them.
How much are the dump troop seats, are they wood or fiberglass and what kind of shape are they in? Others on this list might be interested if you are not.
