In the pictures at Pennsylvania and Colorado, the trucks look like they were just recently taken out of everyday SF training ops, unlike the lot rot GP units which have sat for decades.

there are many many manuals for this ARV: hull, engine, powertrain, etc. None are available in PDF. You will need to find originals for the components you wish to overhaul. For the GAA, most systems are same as Sherman. I would also post over on the G503 website in the armor section.
You are quite correct, that spark indicates something is allowing current to pass. Need to employ the process of elimination, disconnect devices one by one until the offender is identified. I would start with the alternator excite wire.
Haha thanks but I did not mention pressing the parking brake release knob because I couldn't remember if you had to or not. Definitely have to press the trailer brake knob.
