I own a M820A2 so I know what you are saying. We have ditches on the sides of the road and streets here and it's a bitch to maneuver in my neighborhood. One wrong turn and you're in the ditch. I just consider it part of the price you pay to own one of these LARGE trucks!:driver:

The vin should be under the driver side fender either above or in front of the tire. It may be covered in layers of paint. You can either scrape the paint off or use a chemical stripper to remove the paint and expose the vin. You can alway clean of the spot later and repaint it. There may be...

Aircraft Stripper is nasty stuff! If you get it on your skin you will know. Make sure your wear protective gloves. I used it to strip a 1966 GMC walk-in van. It had many coats of different paint on it. The stripper took them all off. Best stuff out there for stripping paint! Only problem...

No you do not need to keep the compressor on all the time! WM used a leaf blower to inflate it (I helped). Its just like inflating a air mattress but bigger. He did have to add some air to it a couple of times but that could have been do to the makeshift plugs he had in some of the fill...
