    If I remember correctly there should be a transducer screwed in where the cable would go, you should be able to take out the transducer and put in the cable. Now whether it is the right ratio remains to be seen. Rick

    I have seen a lot of 6.2's break in the same exact spot. A lot of the time it is from using ether. Could have been a balancer if you were really twisting it. Forget replacing the crank, the timing cover is going to be trashed and the front main journal will be either cracked or severely gouged...

    I used to own a 4X4 shop in the 70's, I am real familiar with drive shafts. If once you get the joint in the yoke is stiff you can smack the yoke with a hammer just below each cap you had put in. This will usually free up the joint by backing the caps out to the clip. Rick

    75 lbs. of air seems to be a lot for an empty truck. I run 45 in the rears and 55 in the fronts on mine and still tend to wear the centers out on the back.

    Under warranty at 17 years old!!!!! My guess would be that the tires were run with a heavy load and then cross rotated. That could make the belts shift in some of the older radials. I would lose the 17 year old tires fast, The rubber compound is probably hard as a rock and if you have to stop...

    Any air tank will have an ASME metal tag welded to it with all of the spec's. It will be on the top or front where it is normally visible. If the tag is not on a tank in a commercial business then an insurance inspection or OSHA inspection would make you remove it. Rick

    You say the CUCV has parts the civvie trucks do do have, I am curious what. They do have two alternators and a very problematic electrical system but other than that the truck is a K/30 Chevy. Don't get me wrong, I have one and I have pulled some serious weight with it but not very fast. Rick

    I still think you should check the prices on a regular tow rig compared to what yo will spend converting a 30 year old truck that is going to rot out very quickly once you start driven it regularly.
