Uh, no. All 4 batteries are 12 volt. Looking at the box, the front two are connected in parallel, the back two are connected in parallel, and the fronts are in series with the back for 24 volts.
Was everything fine and then this started happening, or has it been like this since you got it from Uncle Sam? We see a lot of times that hoses are not connected properly by attempts at maintenance. I would check the connections at the back of the dash valves.
I owe everyone an update. I printed out the TM section on "TPSS does not illuminate". The TPSS is the keypad that controls the transmission. The troubleshooting starts with voltage measurements at the PDP, moving on to the VIM. All good so far. Then you perform continuity checks between...
Thanks LMTV. My point is, Uncle is still buying these, with essentially the same design as the 90's trucks, (with updates and different rear pumpkin), so they must be reasonably happy with them. I know during my recent visit to Ft Polk, FMTV's were all I saw running around base. Old ones...
I'm having the time of my life working on this. So far my truck has only had hydraulic problems, now I am getting direct experience with electrical problems.
Well folks I'm having to eat a little crow here. I did not have much time to devote to this today, and here is how far I got: (again thanks to Suprman for assistance this morning with diagnostics) Vehicle powers up fine, everything works fine lighting and accessory wise. What is not powering...
I'm with Suprman, this girl will run tomorrow.
On a related note, you must have said your prayers or done a good deed or something. With the FMTVs, you darn well better check the cab for loose items before you raise it, or plan to buy a $600 windshield. So knowing this, I check your cab...
Ok, battery box mystery item on mkcoen's truck. What is this thing?
AGM rejuvination report: back two batts 12 volts. Front right at 11.5. Front left still straggling at 6 volts, but doing it's best to catch up. Crank attempt tomorrow!
Ran into a very unusual situation attaching the AGM chargers. The two front 12 volt batteries show very low voltage. So I isolated them, and connected a AGM charger to each. The chargers showed "incorrect connection". Why is that, I thought, the batteries show 3 volts? I rechecked the...
Thanks for the info. Other things about it: It has the heavy rear suspension and the airdrop bumper. It did not pass whatever testing was done to it, as the frame was buckled right ahead of the rear suspension. I suppose a 3000 lb shelter did that to it during an airdrop or test course jump...
