I have heard of that trick. Been a long time.
The detergents in the transmission oil really clean it out.
Same theory for the fuel system but with the addition of the friction modifiers, it's like adding sandpaper per say to the fuel.
I see two battery's, two alternators and the resistor installed. So still the stock 12/24 system.
Fuel filter mod.
Wrong oil fill cap. Needs the vented one. Easy fix.

Best, easiest, cheapest way most likely is to find a M105A3 that's being parted out.
They didnt make as many as the A2 so it might be a challenge to find the parts.
I'm looking for an A3 myself.
It helps a lot.
The older diesels were not designed for such dry fuel. Very hard on the injection systems.
Adding it keeps those small parts from sticking.
It's also designed to burn.
In my CUCV, I always add one quart per tank

New bulbs arrived.
One was busted internally. Chunk of glass about the size of a very small pea is sliding around.
Bulb looks like it will work just fine, but with that small piece of glass resting on the inside, I'm afraid it will cause a temperature imbalance on the glass housing and fail...
Don't know how big the tank is.
On my NF2D, it's a 9 gallon tank.
I used a pint.
A little much for some folks probably, but it won't hurt it.
Kubota engine purrs and doesn't smoke a bit no matter the load.
I know things are done "differently" back East, but outlawing surge brakes doesn't make sense at all.
Then again, a lot of things they do don't make sense.
The way I use my trailers, I prefer surge over electric any day.

Surge brake shock on my tan M101A2 went out today.
What really bites is that I had the whole thing apart two weeks ago.
Some bolts on the surge assembly/frame rail were loose.
Two were a PITA to get to.
They looked fine until I put fingers on them and they turned.
Now I get to do it all...
Well Seafoam definitely didn't hurt it.
Add some two-cycle oil to tank and keep things lubed.
Todays diesel is very dry.
I always have a bit of both in all my Diesel fuel tanks.
Having lived and worked for an agency in NM for 17 years, I really hate to read that you let him off without calling authorities.
Especially him being a state employee. More than a few of them have killed others in DWI accidents in NM. Even while driving their state issued vehicle.

You can hear on the video when you use the turn signal lever, apply brake, etc.
Up in that part of the state, you can drive what seems forever without a turn in the road.
