Just for smitts and giggles I decided to put on new U joints on my MTV front propeller shaft. Here is why with the splines as big as they are being one tooth off you would have to be a blind man not to see it. One pic of big splines one pic in phase and as said one spline off. I do not need a...
Bottom line from talking to him is they really do not want MV's on the road so to limit there use is the first step. Be interesting to see if a bobbed truck would pass my inspectors liking. I only use my trucks for show or play in the mud at this time anyway so I am happy.
I do not know I believe they want to see it like I said like it came out of service. Camo, Tan or OD is what he told me he wants to see. No purple with stripes I guess. Former military colors.
Yep got the former military tag and title done today. No mechanical inspection just wanted to see if it looked like it did when it came out of service. Correct paint and he did not want to see LED head lights. Good thing I never thought about changing them. He was not even worried that I did not...
Well I am home with a former military tag. He did not inspect the mechanicals of the truck he just looked it over. He did not want to see LED head lights and I did not have them. He talked about people repainting them to some color other the OD / tan or camo. Mine is still camo. I had no unit...
Looks like cool stuff but I do not need any of it. In my case my drive shaft was balanced but some moron dropped my front drive shaft on the 1088. He pulled apart the slip shaft joint and did not mark it, then put it back together three splines off. Now in my case I had a growl when I came off...
Yea I am not quite that happy to post twice about going today to get my tag. I have to drive 50 miles to let the inspector look at my truck. I am happy after talking to him on the phone about what he will do. He told me he just wants to see that I have not changed the truck since it was released...
iPhone method? Not trying to be rude but have you ever taken one apart and clocked it correctly on a FMTV. With the big splines you would know it is off trust me I had to do mine while under the truck and just taking off the U joint from the axle. No problem seeing if it was off a spline. Mine...
On my 1088 someone left out the hub thrust washer. Lucky one of our members sent me one. Maybe you need as NDT said you need to check / set up your hubs. In this case a complete axle service I would recommend.
They are easer than skinning a cat. Bet if you are care full removing the seal- adjuster plunger it could be reused. Everything else will seem simple to check, clean / lube.
You know how to tell a happy biker in Florida during love bug season. Count the bugs between his teeth. Your not smiling in that pic. If I owned that bike there would be a permanent smile on my face. On a side note tanks for my one vote Joseph!
Thanks but I do not want a regular tag as I run all my stuff with antique tags. Believe the letter says horseless carriage but from what I hear there is a former military tag too for on road. We will see today.
Yes Ray I went through Tallahassee with the correct forms. Yes I talked to Ray #1 and he said they had to look at his truck too. For Ray #1 they did not do a inspection like in other states where they check everything including if you have hemorrhoids just wanted to check numbers and see that it...
Well I had an antique tag on the 1088 before and I should have just kept it registered. Now they want me to take the truck to a regional DMV office and have a road worthiness inspection. I do not know if they just started this or what the inspection will in tail. I am going to call Monday to see...
Was this a blade problem or the retainer screws came loose. Thought there was a thread where we were told to double check fan retainers? I have checked mine but will keep a eye on the fan for being loose.
