Niagara Military Parts has those wheel cylinders for like $25 ea. Each axle has 4 of them. Child's play to replace them. Agreed the blue don't work for me either. Looks like a civil defense truck.
Av80r, I pulled the driveshaft (heavy bugger!) and good thing as the rear u-joint is mighty stiff. Danl, yes, the 915A1 has that red light that on mine glows at about 50 mph. The difference between the 915 and 915A1 in top speed is that the 915 has .8 overdrive, whereas the HT740 in the A1 is...
First order of business is to see how far the ol' speedo wraps around at 2100 rpm. All these Wreckerman 85 mph tall tales have me wondering. It's gonna stay white with "former military" plates.
Another Ft Polk recovery. Couldn't have ask for better weather. Somehow I got the big heavy tow bar hooked by myself. Av8or's advice was spot on, the truck followed just fine and did not pull the rear around like the M916 did.
A huge thank you to Jeepsinker for picking up an item from Polk...
I would try a shim stock material starting at .0005" and see if you can wedge the race in there. I'm guessing this trailer is not seeing daily use on the interstate loaded with 20 tons. Plan b would be the build up, but that is quite expensive.
I have seen that on CL for quite a while, what does that tell you? Check the rockers carefully for rust, I see some there. A patched up rustbucket is not worth 6K. As said, this thing will burn gas like crazy. Do you want to spend $3.50 to drive 10 miles? Also, with the TH400, the Braden...
I fished out my copy of TM9-2330-211-14. The hubs are different on the 172 slick and the A1. The hub p/n for your trailer is FSN 2530-318-120, ord p/n 8379664. Years ago I tried to find a hub for a M172A1 that came from Ft Hood minus one hub. Perfect trailer, just missing a hub/drum...
Do you use any ballast on your tow M915A1 and how fast do you go when towing? Truck looks great. I'm going to pick up my new-to-me M915 on Monday, still has 7155. I'm trying to decide between flat tow or trailer haul.
Andy, do you have a M172 or M172A1? I have not had any luck finding the odd skinny inner dual Budd nuts found on the A1. Hubs are going to be impossible to find.
Ironkurt, my advice to you is for you and some other knowledgeable guys go look at one of these close before you jump in. The GVCW may be more than the 911, but that is attributable to the M1000 trailer. The 911 seems to be to be twice the truck as the 1070 from a chassis/axle perspective...
M172's are 114" wide. Meaning year-round permit or trip permits every time. The ramps for the M172 should come with a coupon for spinal reconstruction surgery. The 872 is the same height as a normal float. Not useful for equipment drive on loading, must have a dock. Keep your eyes peeled...
Most all the auto paint mfgrs can cross the FS numbers into paint codes. Just will take some digging. For example, FS24087 crosses to PPG Delstar DAR42955.
