Wider where, in the back or front or both? The deuce and M37 have the same windshield width. So if the width is way more at the windshield, I have no idea. The 900 series 5 ton is wider, but it didn't exist in 1962. The window design could be different. -

Carefully study the boom loading chart for the wrecker. With the shipper fully extended, you will not be able to pick up 15,000 lbs. Your loaded combination will be deep into CDL territory. Big money and hassle to run legal.- NDT

Canvas Cover #8696020 assistance needed.
Sounds an awful lot like a Deuce cab cover. What aspect of it is too big for a M37? Obviously the M37 did not use the twist lock fasteners over the door. But the 2.5, 5 and 10 ton did. -

The shift tower should have a rubber boot on it to keep rain and water out. The metal piece could be from Pvt Ryan jamming a gear 47 years ago.- NDT

Vent Hose and What Else to Check?
Looks ok to me. Until you have “baselined” the oil meaning you know that you have fresh clean moisture free oil in there, don’t worry about the blowby vapor. -
M1031 Maintenance Contact Truck just acquired
If you don’t want a contact maintenance truck, sell it to someone that does and buy a 1008 pickup instead with the proceeds. -
Vent Hose and What Else to Check?
This can be water vapor or oil vapor. If you change the oil and it disappears, it is water vapor. If it remains, it is called “blowby” and it’s a sign of piston rings not sealing well. Again, an oil change with some kind of additives like Lucas can help. -
Will this towbar end work on a FMTV?
There is not a left and right foot intended for the light/medium tow bar. As long as you have your keeper cotter pin/hairpin pin (whatever) in place to keep the pin from falling out you are good to go. -
M416 Price Question
When these were selling at auction they brought $350. Since he kept it inside and it’s not now all rusted out like most are, it is worth north of $1000. -

Ok good. My next efforts would be to make 100% sure there are no hairline cracks in any fuel hoses that could admit air. As fuel demand is increasing the air entrainment get so bad the engine falls on it’s azz.- NDT
