The frame is the same and will accept a regular bed. You will need to cut/remove and block off the fuel lines that went to the rear heater. You will also need to seal up the hole in the back of the cab, and you'll probably want to add a window while you're at it. I'd probably see if I could find...
From an eBay auction of a newer manufacture harness (1993?), so it may not be exactly the same as the original (I didn't check). But it's probably close.
I'm not sure what his point is? You do test the resistance of a substance under no load with an ohm meter, but your last under load test seems to indicate the resistor is fine.
The manuals will be harder to get. I dug out a 1968 US Army handbook that lists the TM's for it. I will double check, but I'm pretty sure they are the 213 series manuals, the current version of which now only contain M105 trailers. You will probably need to find an actual print version from the...
That's where most people move it to. No fuse needed. The wire is almost the perfect length as it is. Remove it from the resistor and move it to the junction. The plugs are not in use very long or when you are using lots of accessories, so you should not overload the wire. To be safe, just make...
Not the best pic, but it's the right model...

Yeah, but you must test it loaded and don't test it for long. Or, just hook them to the 12V junction and don't worry unless you are stone dead and need a slave start.
No, this is a CUCV only problem caused by the firewall resistor in series with the glowplugs. If that plug goes bad, it will just be a little harder to start in the cold, but probably not very noticeable. Civvy trucks pull directly from the batteries (12V parallel) and therefore cannot see an...
After I posted in the other thread that the voltage doesn't change, I got out the pen and paper to do some calculations because too many people have stated this as the reason and it's been too long since I did any circuit design. Jeff is on the money here. The firewall resistor and the glow...
The chassis is an M102 model, as opposed to the M103 that the M105 variants use. If I remember, the side gussets on the body do not kick out at the bottom like an M105. I'll try to find a pic. One actually sold at Aberdeen a few years back. Pretty cool trailer. Stock tires were 11.00x20's, as it...
That's not the kind of EMP we are talking about. That's like arguing that the 50000 volts from the coil on my 57 Chevy didn't kill me, so how could anything less? Sure, there is no hard evidence of the scale of weapon being discussed, but the effect, how it happens and what it does is well...
RE: Re: RE: 12 vs 24?
Check the output of the resistor. An hour will not hurt them either, but while driving the truck might be a little different. Not only are you stressing them with temperature, but they are also being subjected to continual high combusiton pressures, fuel spray and engine...
RE: 12 vs 24?
The G070's are the CUCV plugs. Were the old plugs (13G's) not working? It sounds like you've got 2 swelled plugs. I'd be a more than a little pissed at receiving 1 (or more) AC 11G's when I ordered G070's!
The stock system does not switch from 24V to 12V after "a second or two"...
Good point. Even though you will probably go deaf if you listen at a level that uses enough power to overload the stock wiring to the junction block, I have always powered my stereo equipment from the battery directly as well. For casual listening, the junction block will provide enough power...
The stock CUCV alternators are rated at 100 amps, so they have plenty of power. The best place to pull your 12V power is the junction block on the firewall just to the left (looking at the firewall) of the glow plug relay. If you find that there's not enough power, then you might upgrade the 12V...
