FWIW...I ran my ground cable from the AM-1870 attaching bolt (1 of the 4) to the same battery ground terminal that the AM-1870 power cable was wired to.

I did a search of the NSN number and it popped up from a seller on a site called Bonanza. At the time they had 20 of them NOS in the wrapper but that was several years ago

I went back to the spot of the original picture from when I first brought the truck home to do a before and after. There's 5 years, 3 months and many mods in between the two. I've done so much to it that I'm starting to run out of projects 😬

The stock muffler is pretty effective at reducing noise. I didn't realize how much so until I took mine off...

Today my brother and I got the level wind installed and functional. It turned out to be a 45,000 lb unit from the rear winch of a M816 or M936 so 3 of the 4 mounting holes had to be altered and all of the movements were froze up. All the lower fittings of the trolley were caked up solid so...

I wonder if it could be part of an oil filter?

I bet the silicone boots might withstand the elements a bit better. I think those are 1-piece units.

I finally worked up the nerve and replaced the water pump belt and the power steering belts. Yeah, the ones in the very back... ...now my entire spine hurts
