What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Well I did this today on my fuel pump...wasn't a good feeling when it gave way. I'm thinking I'll shave the nub down flush and tap it for a male to male pipe nipple. Typically I prefer female nipples, but this has a decent chance of fixing it.

    Finally! - 16.00R20s for my M813

Sorry to leave you behind with stock tires, but I am keeping my stock rims and tires just in case I get the itch to go back to duals with 12.00R20 tires when I'm older. I would have loved to go with 14.00-20 bridge truck NDTs and duals if width weren't a concern...

    Finally! - 16.00R20s for my M813

So far, and I've only driven it 6 miles, I haven't noticed any loss of power feeling but I do have to use the brake pedal harder when coming to a stop. I'll be logging more miles on it soon and will report back.

    Finally! - 16.00R20s for my M813

I was more than happy to let the forklift do all the heavy lifting and handling 😁 That was a good solid 7 hours of work with 2 guys plus set up and cleanup but it went smooth without any problems. I ended up with 2-piece HEMTTs on the front, 5-ton super singles on the rear, plus another...

    Finally! - 16.00R20s for my M813

It's been a long time working up to them but I finally got these monster AT3As mounted on the MV of the year! Luckily I bought the whole package right after Christmas before tire prices went crazy and I've been slowly working on them since January 28... I chased every thread on all 7 rims by...

    Introducing the Soldier B HubHelper!!

I think the hub-piloted version has the same 11.25" bolt circle, but I don't plan on selling the prototypes because I still have tests and demos to run with them. I can work up another batch as soon as I'm done with some other projects im on right now. I'll send you a PM

    Introducing the Soldier B HubHelper!!

That looks like it might balance out pretty well? The gear reduction hubs must weigh quite a bit.

    Introducing the Soldier B HubHelper!!

I checked my basement and I have the CUCV prototype, a 2.5-ton model and my prototype for modern hub piloted Conmet hubs.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

That is the HubHelper that I designed and produce in small batches. My classifieds ad expired when I wasn't paying attention after 30 days of not "bumping" a response to the ad. Wrecking our backs is the main reason I started making them and I make them for CUCV, 2.5 ton, 5 ton, and 10 ton...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Yes, Bailey did her part without being too hard on me. She's also good at inspecting the t-case for leaks as she'll occasionally wonder out with a racing stripe down her back 😄

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Today Bailey and I removed the drivers side hub to check the torque on the spindle nuts. I figured it's easier to do it when the wheels are 140 lbs than it is when they're 525 lbs. These were much closer to spec than the passenger side was; only took about an 1/8 of a turn to click off 150...

    My first multifuel?

I'm really enjoying your pace. It's ambitious yet methodical

M939 series winch PTO hydraulic pump and drive adapted to M809/M939 series winch to a M809 series 5 ton.

When I was shopping for M813s I noticed that every M818 tractor for sale had a winch. Seemed the odds of finding an M818 w/w was much higher than finding an M813 w/w. That could be an option if you were also wanting a short wheel base.

The answer to an age old question

Oh, wow! - That new look is killer! It seems like size matters and the peer pressure is making me feel insecure about your extra 6" extension (or my lack there of) so now I must increase my truck's girth also; 16.00R20s in process... lol

    My first multifuel?

It looks like you've done this before... Love the in-process pics

    My first multifuel?

I took a tour of the BP refinery at Cherry Point and they said the final product (gasoline) was generic and they would add a bucket of Chevron or Shell or whatever additive to it before delivering to a gas station.

    My first multifuel?

I've had cast iron water jackets welded up in the past but it all depends on if that crack is accessible to the arc rod. Looks like access would be tough...

    My first multifuel?

Ahh, now I see it. Is that something you repair or replace?
