Today, while moving the FLU419 to a new spot while digging a trench, I smashed my passenger-side mirror. I was on a slight muddy slope downhill to the right when the FLU started sliding sideways right into a tree, smashing the mirror. It would have been much worse except the loader hit another...
Like HDN said, you can hear and feel it lock up. From a stop, accelerate slowly and count the shifts. Interestingly, the TC sometimes locks up between 3rd and 4th on mine and sometimes waits until it's in 4th gear. It doesn't really matter when it locks up. If you can't really tell, look at...
I've seen Hummer H1 bushing kits advertised that include all of the bushings. The kits also had the NSN numbers listed for each of the bushings as well.
Look at the check valve on top of the tank. Be careful with the connections as it is easy to break the fittings. Hold the fittings with a wrench as you loosen so as to not put a lot of torque on the fitting. This is a common problem with M35A3s. Trash from the fuel tank gets caught up in the...
Very nice looking ambulance! Be careful how you drive it though. M151s are not that hard to roll over. The M718 ambulances will roll over even easier than the M151s. When I was in the Army, we had two separate fatalities when M718s rolled over in two separate incidents. We had several other...
I love my hydraulic chainsaw. Very light weight and lots of power. No fuel and no lubricating oil. I do have to drag the SEE wherever I'm cutting, though.
Check with CSM Army Tires in Anniston, Alabama. They really helped me out with new tires for my FLU419. Great price and excellent condition. https://csmarmytires.com
The oil pressure on my FLU419 is right at 75 PSI when I start it up cold. Once the engine warms up and at idle, the oil pressure is around 35 - 45 depending on how warm the engine is. Once warmed up and the RPMs are high, the pressure is around 70. I'm running 20W-40W oil. I recently did an...
Need to lay ~150 feet or so of 6-inch drainage pipe from my house. The FLU419 backhoe is making the job very easy. Buying my SEE was one of my better ideas. I don't talk about my not-so-good ideas. I live on a gravel road over 1/2 mile from pavement. There is a large rock, about 3 X 4 feet...
I have an M1061E1 trailer I picked up from Jimma a few years ago. It had a lot of rust on it and I had it sandblasted and painted with 383 paint. It looks like new now. I routinely pull it with my M35A3 and previously pulled it with my M35A2 before I sold it. The A3 maxes out at 45 mph, but...
When you say the transmission tries to move in reverse, is the transmission slipping? Does the engine lug down while trying to go in reverse? Perhaps the parking brake is locking up in reverse? I had that happen once in a deuce I previously owned when a spring in the parking brake broke.
I need to adjust the slave cylinder on my FLU419. The TM says to tilt the cab, which I don't necessarily want to do. I haven't actually looked at the SEE yet to make a determination because of other non-related issues. Can the slave cylinder be adjusted without tilting the cab? I've...
I've been thinking the same thing. Between hills and a 45 MPH top speed for my M35A3, interstates scare me. I spend most of the time with emergency flashers on. I've had some very close calls with being rear-ended in the past.
