Not sure where this fits - not exactly a TM but good info for those that want it. Outlines the FMTV program and compares it to M939 and M44 series trucks.
So, I needed a set of 395s and it was cheaper to buy a trailer with the tires (local) than it was to buy/ship and then pay someone to mount the tires (time issue).
So, I picked this up.
These look like standard FMTV wheels. So, they should be a direct bolt on to an M939A2, correct?
So... You know I like to overanalyze things. I need input.
I originally got an M934 but realized the length was a limitation and the way the body expanded was virtually useless for planning purposes. I sold it.
I figured I'd get a deuce (And I did) then realized that due to parts availability...
The last couple cucvs I went with 12v plugs and bypassed the controller and relay ( it's a cucv thing).
It's my understanding that (s)wellemans are to be avoided - but is there any other option at this point?
Looking for a self regulating plug that won't swell and will last a while.
I plan...

Edit: Fixed first link and added one more.
Gonna be used as a 'daily', however mostly dispersed camping (tiny home on wheels).
I expect to camp somewhere for a week or two then drive 100-300 miles and repeat the process. Could be as little as 20 miles or as far as 2K miles... just whatever suits my fancy. I just want to clarify this is...
Or is it a 9mm vs .45 situation?
Got the 10wt camp that says 'look at the LO'
Got the 15w40 camp that says 'Whatever works'
Got the Dex3 camp that says 'It's the best choice for the price'
Got the Transynd camp saying 'This is what Allison says to use'
10wt camp says 'it's mil spec'...
Heard in cab. Have not tried the tube method to narrow down where the sound is coming from though I probably should.
Seems most present at idle, and under load at RPM.
Above idle in Neutral it almost disappears.

Other vehicles I've had with that noise...
The cost difference is negligible to me.
1. Can I run 75W90 instead of 80W90 in TC and diffs?
2. Will I see any benefit using a synthetic instead of dino?
My experience with passenger vehicle diffs is a LOT different than heavy machinery... The 8.8 in my fords can take 75w90, 80w90, all the...
So, picked up my truck at auction... Got a good deal knowing it was a gamble... and .... here.... we... go...!
So, couple small issues.
Air leaks down pretty quick. I will have to put shop air on it and spray all fittings with soapy water. Pretty easy way to diagnose.
Also sounds like there...
My intent is to live full time in a box... :D
I had an M934, but realized the box was a waste as to design around the folding out sides was dumb. So I sold it.
Here I am a couple years later and my how prices have changed. $4500 for a 5 ton? HA! They're 3x that now, easily.
I ended up...
How much can the trailer flex and still maintain connection? Maximum angle of attack? That kind of stuff. Looking through the TMs and not finding much on the 931. I'm debating on a M923 with a 14' van body in lieu of the bed, vs an M931 with something like an M129 or M146.
Just a friendly reminder to keep yourself safe and know the limitations and maintenance requirements of your equipment.
Test your generators, know deep water fording techniques, know the maintenance required when water goes over the axles, check your vent tubing, etc..
I guess I'm answering my own question but, it seems like I can find M35s every day and twice on Tuesday, but searching major sites like Facebook and Craigslist found me ONE for sale in the entire country.
Were not as many manufactured and/or surplused?
As usual, I tend to overthink things...
Realistically, in my opinion, with modern greases, any grease I choose should be better than what was around when the deuce was manufactured, but that's not always the case....
So, I'm looking at bearing grease.... and the options are endless..
Lithium...
