I never even think it's a differential , I may look into it , most of Humvee owners says 218 was loud , and I'm very confused too , so better off look for 218 and instead 242 I change my drive shaft already since I do ls conversion all drive shaft was all fabricated now if I will put the 242 ...

Hello , I have 4L80e and Ls swap , I used the stock transfer case and I remember I have the old one I think it's 218np , I noticed the whinnying sounds and it's loud , is this normal ? Can I swap 242 are they the same size ? 242 is more quieter ? pls help me - Ron
