    Another Brake Modification

I don't really post here any more for many reasons. But one reason is that: I'm selling my deuce, but before the buying company takes ownership, I wanted it to be less of a death trap, because I'll have to share the road with it. The problem in question is the deuce's stopping ability and the...

Low air pressure buzzer is dead.

I had what turned out to be a copper tube from the top of my compressor break off while driving home one day. I assume it has something to do with kicking it on and off using air pressure, because when it broke my buzzer sounded intermittently when you hit the brakes, even though it was still...

First Aid Kit and Fire Extingusher

I have a water proof OD green medkit from a surplus store, a small fire extinguisher, and a box of ear plugs. I don't know if you all are midgets, or what, but I find my deuce has very little room in it for 'stuff'. The medkit and ear plugs are in the 'glove box', the fire extinguisher is...

Parking and headlights at the same time?

Go with number 2 IMO. I just ran a length of wire connecting my rear running lights circuit with my front parking light circuit, works like a charm. I determined which wire was the rear parking light by turning on the service lights and probing the wiring harness till i found the hot wire for...

    Harbor Freight/Northern Tool welders???

I feel the Northern tool stuff is pretty good compared to Harborfreight. My Northstar truck crane is still working well compared to my Central Hydraulics from harborfreight. The difference was in the materials used. The cylinder in the Central Hydraulics jack was made from a cheaper metal...

    Comset Ideas for Deuce Cab?

I had a VIC-1 setup and I didn't like it. Maybe it was just mine, but it was unreliable. Sometimes it would work sometimes it wouldn't. I think thats probably the norm for surplus electronics. I suggest the aviation intercoms, especially since they come in 24v flavors and IMO are infinitely...

    Show us your Military Trailers

Here's a redneck one. I have a M105A2 that I tow behind my deuce or a F-250. It's got a 95' waverunner and trailer in it with a half-ton crane. The wave runner is 450# the crane is set to the 500# length, you back the trailer up to the surf and use the crane to drop or recover it.

What a Deuce is made for, Especially a bobbed one.

Knock on wood, I haven't gotten my 6x6 deuce stuck in the soft sands around here...yet. I would like to try it in mud, but I need another deuce or to add a winch to get me out.

    buying from liquidation salles?

In before rude comments: Buying from liquidation auctions is as much work as you would think it would be, with as much red tape as you should expect from a corporation working for the US government. I mean that is it in a nutshell: You have to fill out every form absolutely correct and expect...

    Form 97 with purchase?

I think they may have to pay a tax to the state of Florida or some such.

    Unloading my new M35A3

I would have. Haha. It beats backing the trailer into a ditch, or building a temporary loading ramp.

Is it legal to acquire slave cables and surplus tires?

I like how I can understand this one even less then the first one.

    Titling M105A2 in Texas.....

I have a plated M105A2 and a Plated Deuce. I had my plates for my M105A2 months before I got the M105A2 actually into the state, I brought the plates with me when I picked it up. All I needed was the SF-97 which I think you can apply for at any point now. Annoyingly they charged me a 2.50$...

    KaBOOOOM---and the M1009 is dead

Ditto. The baking soda neutralizes the acid residue into salt, CO2 and water. After you neutralize the acid with baking soda, rinse the leftover baking soda and newly formed salt off real well because it causes the oxidation of iron/steel to accelerate. The foaming white stuff is the salt, the...

Clearance lights and fender turn signal indicators

I used the civilian counterpart of those lamps with 24v bulbs for side markers on my deuce. I would say you probably wouldn't want them on the roof as the way they tend to mount makes them harder to waterproof, lamps meant for the roof tend to have a more robust rubber gasket.

Crew cab M35 taking a dump on air

Wow, a real suspension setup. I get bored looking at every bobbed truck on trailer leaf springs, heck they had leaf springs on covered wagons heading to California. I'll have to check out that xtreme 4x4 episode.

    M1009 37x12.5s Uhaul Trailer?

Sounds to me like most of the problems were not because of load weight, but because uhaul has a habit of renting dangerous, unmaintained, and damaged equipment. Most of the Uhaul trucks I've rented have broken down on the side of the road. The trailers generally have poor tires, damaged straps...

    Deuce on 46" tires!

Indeed, I say it's well worth the trade off. The speed, the handling, the reduction in the impact of bumps. I say its well worth adding a few more points to turns in certain situations. I can generally get my deuce in and out of spaces better than most folks with their duallys with...

    Deuce on 46" tires!

I got 46"s too, how's your rubbing on the front springs at full lock with those tires? Mine makes tighter turns more challenging, but no biggie.
