Threw a few of us off when we replaced a transmission on an 1152. Couldn’t figure out why it was happening. TM wouldn’t explain it either. I believe PS Magazine had an article on it it.
Looks like that transmission PN 12563695 (2520-01-657-9861) came in a kit for the M1097A3 which I have not seen. I am not seeing much information on FEDLOG either. PN 57K6233 (2520-01-625-7876) is a replacement transmission to the 2001 year model which NSN is 2520-01-489-0850 (Terminal Item).
From what I have seen, all 4 speed HMMWV's have a 4L80 in there. Big difference when replacing a transmission was which TCM matches that transmission. This was a pain since there were about a dozen different nsn's for HMMWV transmissions out there and each had its own TCM. Nowadays there are...
Unless it is coming out of your exhaust manifold, I wouldn't worry about it. I got 2 small leaks on mine that randomly show up but its never enough to cause a drop to fall on the ground. I just accept it and move on.
