    Radioactive Deuce?

Edited to add - (I just saw the post about the ebay option, technically that can be done, but should be done responsibly noting its radium content - just like radium watches and dials on ebay - technically still legal, but watch the shipping -- do it in DOT compliance. ) Oddly enough sealed...

    sludge in the fuel cans

On 4 GL trucks I have seen pulled out and changed filters on, only one didn't have caked on crap plugging the bottoms & drain-cock. Had to literally sandblast one to get it clean again. Once clean, they haven't gotten bad at all, but I haven't driven a lot either. My 2 cents is the liners may...

    Bearing/Seal Video

I remember that video, and looked for it myself a few times and I recall the host took it off of youtube. He made it look so easy - He had a special dolly to accomodate removing the dual wheels together. You can use a pallet jack for that, or just take it slow and do one at a time.

    Hard top Vs. soft top

I have new tan soft top, hard top and insulated heavy green - I don't notice enough difference to prefer one over the others from a noise point of view. With windows open they are all excessively loud. The Hard top is a C turbo = Fun, but loud after a while. I'm going to be muffling with...

    Radioactive Deuce?

Sure! No TVs and the basket ball hoop in the LD area. If you say so it must be true.

    Radioactive Deuce?

I din't imply that cargo didn't screen ed at ports, rather implied too many other agencies within the US do and have likely more capabilty in the number of sources and points. For example how did CPB allow those Radioactive tissue sources in the country only to be picked up by a state of...

    Radioactive Deuce?

Thanks for saying I'm full of it or not. But implying I am - So do you work for the CBP facility on Legrand Drive or something like that off Clements Ferry Rd near 526? Or do you work inthe yard. I've been there with Dr Kahn - Your Radiation Specialist for such systems - If you can call...

    Radioactive Deuce?

Yes & no Makes you wonder how the bed, bath & beyond radioactive tissue boxes got into the country and what else slips through the boarder - there is more checking within boarders then at boarders - actually. The boxes were found when a California Highway Patrolman picked up a high radiation...

    Radioactive Deuce?

Actually - Radium emits alpha beta and gamma, It is very easily detected with a most hand-held Geiger counters. In addition, its Progeny and parent isotopes in simultaneous decay found with radium metal used in phosphorescent gauges and the like will also be very apparent. Large...

    Radiator troubles

It shold come out the overflow tube, but many are unknowingly plugged with corrosion and come out the cap as described. Keep an eye on it. A $10 cap is cheap insurance, and worth keeping a spare. I've seen them on ebay for like $4 on occassion.

    $400 a gallon

I know from a good friend who's an Intel officer in Afghanistan that there lots of logistics & issues of getting fuel for US military. First all fuel comes from certified vendors and ships through our reliable ally - Pakistan - You know the folks who's intelligence agency started the Taliban...

    Wierd brake issue

I replaced did all my wheel cylinders this spring with new OD Iron kits or complete cylinders and perhaps I had the wrong springs - Do we have a pic of the correct spring shape versus wrong? Just my luck - but an easy fix at least.

temperature gauge on 68 deuce not working any ideas where to start????

I would do the following: check connections check power & grounds - as stated before the temp gauge is grounded actually at a connection on the panel hole iteself where the gauge is inserted. (I had repainted and reconnected and lost ground - its easy to miss) test gauge - unplug the sending...

    Wierd brake issue

I have the same symptoms with one of my trucks. Peddle is a little soft on the first press then is better thereafter. I thought it was odd considering I was doing the whole truck as a project, I have replaced or rebuilt everything brake wise but the air pack itself. (new Master Cylinder...

Another day another brake petal on the floor

Ted - Any follow up as to the root cause? I'd like to know if you traced it down and what you learn from review. Lines ruptured/broke? Hydrovac? ?? Thanks and hope you get it going again.

my transfer case ate a bearing

I would say its likely. If anything its a risk and when it goes, the truck is dead where it happens. I got a M109 restored, When I got it on the road, it was making some additional vibrational noise from the T-case and I had a mechanic friend familiar with Heavy equipment check it. Found...

    Today's M109A3 recovery

In my experience; My 109A3 is a non-turbo and gutless for acceleration compared to the turbo trucks and wimps out on the inclines. Slowly as I burn out the cobwebs from years of In Army/GL retirement, its getting better. My Winch deuce when I picked it up from the GL lot at Ft Indiantown Gap...

    Anybody use a 101 to haul a 4-wheeler?

Yes - But not in trailer "dump" mode, but with ramps from Tractor Supply. Works OK like getting into a pick up bed. A 12 volt winch or come-along helps.

Found a Deal on A2 Belts

Got mine last night - The ones I received are Marked Dayco "Made in USA" on belts.:) In case anyone wanted to know. They seem like better quality belts compared to some foreign made ones I have in my stash. Great find & price Thanks again for posting. Now I have spares for all...
