Neutral Safety / reverse switch bushing

Hi Mogman, I'm pretty new to all of this. I have a 3 speed M998 and I thought those were only required for the 4 speed or "park" version shifter or something. I could be wrong just like when I thought replacing the incandescent bulbs with LEDs was a simple swap! This forum is extremely...

Neutral Safety / reverse switch bushing

I was adding a backup camera and monitor and thought it would be nice to control it with the reverse switch instead of manually turning it on/off.

    Hurricane Beryl and Mep 803

IDK, because it's cool? This was the early 80's. Maybe it never became real. Yeah I just need reliable quiet diesel.

Neutral Safety / reverse switch bushing

Trying to save money. Found the proper thread pitch for neutral safety and reverse switches on a forum here (can't find the thread now :(. Bought a NSS from the auction site. Sourced a $7 bushing from mc master carr PN 90245A077 which is a 3/4-16 to 9/16-18 threaded insert adapter. Just need...

    Hurricane Beryl and Mep 803

I've thought about the water buffalo but damn those things are heavy and we're pretty hilly. We don't have natural gas but I do have a 500 gal diesel tank for tractors etc so diesel fueled gen is ideal. I seem to remember the army had some kind of mini turbine generator years ago that would...

    Hurricane Beryl and Mep 803

We were on the beach in NJ for Sandy. 40 KW natural gas Generac ran for weeks until we got power. I now have a farm in Virginia and the 803 is intriguing but I need something uber reliable for cattle waterer pumps and not a project. Since it would be mainly for well pumps I've also thought...

Ribs for Troop Seat Cover M998

By trial and error I made some ribs for a cover mounting to the troop seat brackets. I believe these fit the trailer too. You will need extensions to get to full trailer cover height. Start with a 10' x 3/4" EMT conduit (yes this is not as heavy duty as the proper conduit/tubing) Make a mark...

VA General liability ins for HMMWV

Well I tried Hagerty online. $407. So I called in. They said what do you use it for? I said towing a trailer, going to the co-op, parades, farm use, etc. They said sorry, that doesn't fit the category of collectible, we can't help you. What do you guys tell them???

VA General liability ins for HMMWV

The problem is that there are 3 state roads through my property and I cross or use the roads at times. It is not required to be registered (GVWR >7,500 lbs), but needs general liability per the new VA state laws if used on the road at all. I really don't want to register it as a on-road...

VA General liability ins for HMMWV

Long story short my insurance company will insure every shade of wheeled and tracked unregistered vehicle on my farm under my general liability. Except for my M998. Heads exploding. We need the 17 digit VIN. None. We need the registration. It's not registered and doesn't need to be...

    Keyed Switch

There is life after a key switch and a step drill. Machined a little step bushing, put the original switch back in (after two failed key switches). FWIW, current is about 2 A on the running leg, peak current I saw on the start leg was 14A, but mine starts right up. Don't know what a long...

    Keyed Switch

I went the keyed route from fed mil parts. The first one had loose terminals. They replaced it. The second one with fairly little use failed and was unreliable. Starter remained engaged after releasing switch, etc. Heading a different route now. Injector disconnect or something.

    The Goat Locker

Made a ramp and put these guys out. They like hanging out underneath. Didn't chew the light wires. Just fooling around.

    LED replacement no flashing

OK, so I have a lot on my plate and maybe I'm an idiot. I had installed am XM381 trailer converter for a commercial 12 V trailer connection a while back. That was the relay I was hearing.... Removed the brake light switch and it was pretty rough feeling. Moved it back and forth a lot and...

    LED replacement no flashing

Interesting. It was with the Guard then a PD and I've been undoing their 12 mess. Maybe they put one in. With my tinnitus it will be fun finding it! It was puzzling for sure as I didn't remember one in the schematic and had to check to verify. And yes a diode in parallel with the coil to...

    LED replacement no flashing

Hi, Yes they were. I tried adjusting the switch, then disconnected it and ohmed it out. Seemed good, but wouldn't work. When I shorted the leads going to the switch the lights work properly and there is an audible click like a relay or flasher type noise. I just looked at the schematic and...

    LED replacement no flashing

Yes, switch is "bad." Multimeter says it is good but it must not be good under load because it won't trip the relay for the brake lights. Odd. Shows <1 ohm with meter. Shorting the inputs to the switch makes the lights come on. I don't have a milli ohm meter and I'm surprised the circuit is...

    LED replacement no flashing

Yes, either stop or service, now my brake lights are on unless I press the pedal. Confused. Guess adding the troop seats messed up the lights??

    LED replacement no flashing

Too strange, I drove the other day and noticed that my brake lights are on unless I press the pedal, in which case they go out. I think I was in service mode. Haven't had time to investigate.

    12 or 24 volt system

Not hijacking but I have a M998 that is stock 24 V and was reading the TM 9-2320-280-20-1 for fluids capacity and noticed on page 1-32 that the starter voltage is listed as 12 V. The batteries are in series so the truck isn't a 12 V system. Did they actually use a 12 V starter figuring running...
