Thoughts on removing coil springs on A1R

Thank you so much for the pictures, detail and your explanation of this process. I’m gonna try to do this this weekend. Curious how violent is the spring when it lets go?

    Air Flow CFM?

Great work! Love watching the progress on your truck.

    Air Flow CFM?

understood. My goal is to try to get as big of a habitat on the back as realistically possible. Since it’s M1085 it has a 20 foot bed and there’s 18 inches between the bed and the cab so if I could steal another foot there that gives me 21 feet for 2 feet to hang over the back. But if I can...

    Air Flow CFM?

I'm curious, for the folks that are working on or have a camper build, what on your opinions on the stack mounted vs the barrel style air intake? I'm trying to get as much space possible for the habitat and was curious on the forum's opinion. thoughts?

A/C Condenser placement for an A1R

Hey folks, I’m starting to do the GEN two a/c install for my 2007 1085 A1R. Curious if there’s any documentation or if you guys can guide me on where the original placement is on the Reddot AC condenser on an A1R? Is it placed up front next to the radiator?

    Gen 2 A/C install questions

Hey guys, I’m back to working on the truck again and had 2 questions. I bought a GEN two AC evaporator I’m about to install in the truck and was curious if I needed to also replace the air brake manifold since I have a A1R truck? Second question, is there someplace that sells a kit for...

Hydraulic pump replacement - deleted the controller

Quick update: pump installed and cab has been raised for the first time! I’m less mechanically savvy than most of you so I just repurposed the old hand pump metal covering and turned it sideways and bolted it to the storage box. It worked well and the pump has zero play when you’re using the...

Hydraulic pump replacement - deleted the controller

Hey guys, quick update – traced the airline all the way back to the furthest back axle. There were two check valves similar to the one that Ron is highlighting above and the line hooked into the top switch which has now been plugged. All is good and ready to hook up the hydraulics. Small wins!

Hydraulic pump replacement - deleted the controller

Yep, just need to trace it back but was hoping someone knew where it was to save me effort undoing/redoing fasteners. 😩

Hydraulic pump replacement - deleted the controller

Hey guys, I’m still working on my hydraulic issue and have decided to put in Ron’s pump solution as my fix (partially inspired by the work, Invictus is doing to his build 👍). I have deleted the tire lift and have deleted the controller. I’m having one big problem in that I can’t find where to...

@CallMeColt - thx for the correction, should have read the entire thread.

Dealing with issues due to half-assed CTIS engineering.

I watched this on YouTube the other day and seem’s he’s found someone who now is making LMTV hose kits. The company was Superior Soobie and Imports: (503) 880-4084. Superiorsoobie.com (ask for Rick)

Newbie Alert! New LMTV in DFW

Hey Folks, just now getting back out to work on the truck today, day job getting in the way. question: does the hand pump work for both the cab tilt and the wheel lower? As I’m testing the what’s working and what’s not, I didn’t know if the manual pump powers both functions.

Newbie Alert! New LMTV in DFW

To clarify, the reservoirs are full but nothing is happening after hand cranking. I’ve been checking to make sure the reservoirs are full after 5 mins of cranking each time.

Newbie Alert! New LMTV in DFW

Ok, pumped that sucker for 20 mins. Checked the reservoirs each time for fluid and no dice. There is no resistance on the lever and no different result when I use the air over hydraulics. Time to remove the line and check the pump…

Newbie Alert! New LMTV in DFW

Sorry, let me clarify. The hydraulics didn’t work prior and the previous owner bought a refurbished pump that was resealed and installed plus he replaced the latch seals too. I definitely didn’t pump it for 10 mins. I’ll get back out there later this after when it cools off outside and start...

Newbie Alert! New LMTV in DFW

@GeneralDisorder - when I bought the truck the previous owner had the pump recently resealed. Would that have repaired the part you’re referring to?

Newbie Alert! New LMTV in DFW

@Primussucks - pleasure to meet you! I love that there are some folks in the area. I just picked up this M1085A1R about a week ago and am working towards a 4 yr expedition truck build. I gave myself 2 yrs for the chassis prep and 2 for the habitat - let’s see if I actually stick to it. I’m in...

Newbie Alert! New LMTV in DFW

Ok, filled both reservoirs and nada. There aren’t any leaks, and there isn’t any pressure build up either when I try to use the manual pump. The air over hydraulics is chugging as it was before but nothing is moving.
