    Starting problems M-1010

Spent the day working on the problem. Purple wire was fine. We finally jumped to the positive bar with jumper cables from our pick-up and it started up...prior to the jump we were reading 13 v. for each battery (I have converted to 12 v.). I'm now going to replace a couple of the battery...

Question: Just finished the doghead modification on the starting relay, both batteries are fully charged, changed the ignition switch, have a new starter and I still can't get it to even turn over. Just the relay clicking on when I turn on the key. Any ideas?

Picked up a M1010 for the collection

We tried for weeks to get the heater to work but no luck! If you get yours going let us know what you did. I've had my 1010 for three years and still can't figure that heater out!

    Cold weather starts

I appreciate all the good advice! Since this is just a camping out issue I don't think that a block heater would be applicable. I do carry a generator and charger in the ambulance. Just another quick question, could elevation be any factor in this? I know the older carburetor gas vehicles...

    Cold weather starts

We spent the weekend checking out our elk hunt units in northern Arizona. Our campsite was at 9000 feet and it froze during the night. Our M1010 started up after it warmed up in the morning but my question is our hunt starts Dec.. 7th and it will be considerably colder, probably in the teens...

    4WD Indicator light

We went to Mt. Lemmon this morning, a mountain range just north of Tucson, and as has happened numerous times in the past, when we are about 7500 to 8000 feet in elevation my 4WD indicator light begins flashing and then comes on for about 5 minutes before it goes out. I am on dry pavement and...

    New M1010 owner, Central California

Keep posting pictures of what you are doing, I'm getting ready to upgrade the rear of mine. We use it mainly for camping and hunting. I have converted from 24V to 12V, eliminating the DUVAC system, and also a push button manual glow plug activator. Getting rid of the DUVAC was the best thing...

    Removing keyed ignition

Thanks guys, I found it, it is a spring clip that is located to the rear of the ignition. I accessed it through a slot and after several minutes it popped loose. Dennis Yes, the dimmer switch is located on the outside of the steering column but the actuator housing is a part of the windshield...

    Removing keyed ignition

Anybody know where the screw is located that releases the lock assembly in the steering column? Checked the TM's and can't find it anywhere. I am replacing the dimmer and windowwasher switch and have to remove the ignition in order to access those switches. This is a M1010. Dennis

    Replacing turn/dimmer switch

My turn switch broke today and the lever was just flopping up and down. Pulled up the TM's and got as far as gaining access to the switch area but am unable to figure out how to pull that whole assembly out in order to replace it. Any ideas? Dennis My vehicle is a M1010

    How bad is this flywheel?

Flywheel looks good. This happens during the starting process, usually after two or three attempts to start and then the high pitched whine, I push the vehicle back and forth and then it will start up in the next couple tries. I'm starting to think 'gremlins'. Dennis
