LOUISIANA PROPOSED NEW LAW : HB 549 Provides for Military Surplus Motor Vehicles

You're right. After I wrote that I tried to make plans to go, but alas, I still cannot make it. I will e-mail my objections to the committee as well as post them here in case anyone wants to bring them up.

LOUISIANA PROPOSED NEW LAW : HB 549 Provides for Military Surplus Motor Vehicles

To be honest, I'm not going because I don't support this bill. There are many problems with it. I believe trying to get this hastily written bill passed will only hurt us. I don't think anyone is going to want to help us "fix" it later. If you don't fix it now, this may be all you get.

LOUISIANA PROPOSED NEW LAW : HB 549 Provides for Military Surplus Motor Vehicles

There is not a clear legal path because no one at the Fed level ever felt it was necessary. Until recently, they were always sold as either scrap, or with paperwork for titles. They are just trucks, and were sold as such.

Louisiana - State Flagging Existing Titles, and Registering New Vehicles as Off-Road

I have spoken with another member who is also working on this. He hasn't made any posts that I can see so I'm not going to drop his name. I will say he is well respected in the MV community. Maybe he will chime in soon. Hopefully coming at this from all angles will prove fruitful.

LOUISIANA PROPOSED NEW LAW : HB 549 Provides for Military Surplus Motor Vehicles

This bill needs to go back to the drawing board. My vehicle was designed for on road use. This bill is under the assumption that they were all designed for off-road use and limits it all severely.

Louisiana - State Flagging Existing Titles, and Registering New Vehicles as Off-Road

Reserved post #1. Update #1: Sorry I've been absent. With the Holiday and work time is tight. I will issue a proper update after I've talked to a few people. ---In the meantime, there are some good posts down below.

Louisiana - State Asking for NHTSA sticker for deuce titled and registered in 2009

After careful re-reading of Ripsaw's posts, it is my opinion that he is too hot headed and has some ideas that I don't think will be helpful to our cause. I have requested this thread be locked and I will start a new one. I would also request that it not be deleted for reference.

Louisiana - State Asking for NHTSA sticker for deuce titled and registered in 2009

That's a pretty easy answer. You're trying to argue your case HERE, in this thread. Many of us agree with you on certain points and disagree with you on others, but we're not the ones you need to convince. Overall, all of us agree, that arbitrarily restrictions on our trucks without some sort of...

Louisiana - State Asking for NHTSA sticker for deuce titled and registered in 2009

My dear sir, whether we AGREE or DISAGREE with your position is irrelevant. This is not the proper forum (metaphorically speaking) for that discussion. This is a private website with it's own rules and regulations which we all have the privilege of using. We have been provided with a limited...

Louisiana - State Asking for NHTSA sticker for deuce titled and registered in 2009

Let's keep ideological tangents out of the thread, it could very easily get out of hand and off the rails. This is an important issue and we need to keep our eyes on the prize, not argue with each other. I would like to keep this thread open. Thanks guys.

OK now who here has the money & time to sue or has some connections? I imagine some kind of legal fund could be arranged.

Currently, per my conversations, they seem to be under the impression that ALL things sold from the Gov are off-road use only . So unless you slip through the cracks or this is resolved beforehand, I imagine you are going to have problems.
