    Suburban conversion to HMMWV

@Jamesfrom180 - It's unorthodox, but what the **** not?!? @Preacherboy - Thanks for the updated stats. That opens my window up a bit. Although, I'd rather finda a '99 3/4t w/ 35k miles on it and it was rolled. That would get me all whisles and bells of a donor vehicle.

If I hadn't plunked down the dough to have all the ball joints, etc. redone, I would go to straight axle, as well. But, since I spent the money, I might as well get the handling. Especially if I plan on using it for some low key desert racing.

Hmm...I thought the CUCV was on a 1 ton or at least 3/4 chassis. Thanks for all the input. The 1 ton donor seems like a great idea. I've even heard of someone using a dually rear and only using 1 tire on each side. @ Preacherboy - Does the '93 and newer 1 ton have IFS?

    Suburban conversion to HMMWV

The 'Burban already has IFS, but a pumkin in the rear. I've blown 2 rear diffs and would like to upgrade the next time I blow it up. Independent suspension for the rear would be great for handling and performance. Mostly drive (e.g. lockable transfer case). I need the 9 seats and am not really...

    Suburban conversion to HMMWV

Thanks for the input, so far, guys. What I am thinking is to try to keep the creature comforts of the 'Burban, but get the off-road performance and funcionality of the HMMWV. So, as parts go out I'd like to change them to HMMWV parts or 1 ton~3/4 ton parts for better performance and...

    Suburban conversion to HMMWV

I have a '96 1/2 ton Chevy Burban and thinking that I should covert parts as they go to HMMWV. Any thoughts on this?
