    M1008 Injector Pump

ok thanks! theres no pieces or parts that could fall off during the process right? Im under the impression that these IP's are very complicated little things. i dont wanna crack off the top of these things and springs go shooting everywhere!

    M1008 Injector Pump

So if I take the solenoid cover of the old one and put it on the new, it'll work, right?

    M1008 Injector Pump

I'm replacing the IP on my 86 M1008. I managed to get my hands on a new Humvee IP. Will it work? The only difference I can see is the wire connections on top are slightly different. There's two, just like the old pump, but one is in a different place.

    That's what I'm afraid of.

So checking the volume of fuel that comes out of the filter when the engine is turned over would determine if there is a lift pump problem, right? And is the lift pump in the tank?
  5. bpcole

    That's what I'm afraid of.

The engine turns over fine, and the charging system works, it just acts like it is getting absolutely no fuel.

    That's what I'm afraid of.

This happened (power loss to not even cranking) in like two days. So everyone is in agreement that an IP rebuild is in order?
  7. bpcole

    That's what I'm afraid of.

Would you suggest a new/refurb IP? Rebuild my existing one? Or just try and replace the flex ring?
  8. bpcole

    That's what I'm afraid of.

Now where exactly is this flex ring located?

    That's what I'm afraid of.

So the other day, my 84 M1008, with 40,000 miles on it started losing power. It progressed until the accelerator pedal had to be pushed to the floor for it to even move. It also had a low, rough idle. Then it wouldnt even crank. I replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the glass ball check...

    Warn PN64402 or Powerplant on 84 M1009

I put a Mile Marker 10,500lb hydro winch on my 1008. Its a HMMWV takeoff and can be operated underwater as well. Its also wired for the 24volt systems. Hydro is slow, but boy is it strong!

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

My first vehicle was a M1008 with 9 inches of lift and 44's. We did a 350 swap in it too. It had about 400 hp. Great high school truck. Kept the engine sold the truck and bought a '79 trans am.

    M1008 Hydro Winch

Thanks for the info guys, i downloaded the wiring and plumbing diagrams off the MM website for military applications. The Hummer fittings and hoses fit on my dodge dakota just fine, so Im hoping they'll fit on the cucv too. The winch was a hoss when I had it on the other truck. It would drag...

    M1008 Hydro Winch

Another question for ya Hogtruck, you have the same winch that I do. Are the solenoids 24v of 12v? Where did you tie into to get your power source? When I had the winch on my dakota, i would sometimes have trouble with the winch solenoids not operating. I assumed the stock power steering...

    M1008 Hydro Winch

Thanks for the great pics hogtruck, the winch I have came with the humvee mounting kit, so it has the mounting plate and hoses to hook up to those trucks. The hose fittings should be suitable for the CUCV system, right?

    M1008 Hydro Winch

I have a Mile Marker 10,500lb hydraulic winch that goes on the humvees. Has anyone hooked one of these up to a CUCV? It hooks up to the power steering system on the truck. I had it on a dodge dakota for a while, but putting it on something with a hydroboost system is different. Any ideas?

    Voltages

Truck is still cranking fine, no Gen lights, but my speedometer and gas gauge backlights are not working now! Everything else in the instrument cluster is backlit (ie the wait light, fan switches, Gen lights, volt meter), just the gas gauge and the speedometer. Any ideas?

    Voltages

Ok here's the update, took off both altenators. Replaced the loose belt. Put Gen 1 in the place of Gen 2. Put a new altenator I had in the barn in the Gen 1 position. Wired everything back up. No Gen lights now and 14.2v to the back battery and 12.7v to the front battery. The volt meter is...

    Voltages

Truck is ruunning, rear battery is giving 12.65v, front battery is giving 14.14v. The belts are tight on the passenger side, and the drivers side belt is tightened as far as the bracket will let it, but it squeals when first started up.

    Voltages

Ok, thanks for the info. Just got done checking the exciter wire and the other wire in the plugs on top of both the altenators. They checked out just like y'all said. 12v constant to the red wire, and 12v when keyed on for the brown wire. That goes for both sides. I also cleaned up...
